So if Walker sits, who starts to replace him? Only 3 other players can be on the bench. Choose. wRC+ May 1-/30 days/June 1- Vazquez 29 / 6 / 9 Loperfido 41 / 41 / 41 Meyers 45 / 52 / 34 Delgado 58 / 58 / 58 Trammell 64 / 64 / 45 Matthews 61 / 63 / 84 So choose 3 from that list that you want to start (2 will have to anyway) so you can bench Walker. Walker 92 / 103 / 78
I get it, the point isn't who - it is about providing competition, I am shocked that Alvarez hasn't been tried at 1B. DD
The problem with sitting Walker and Altuve is they are the 3rd and 5th best hitters on the team right now. Paredes could shift to first, but that leaves a problem at 3rd. Anyone else who could conceivably play 2nd regularly is a big drop off.
He absolutely was tried at 1B - in the minors. It was determined that he simply did not have the flexibility especially at the waist and in his hips to be an effective 1B so gave up on the experiment. FTR I read that several years ago. I don't remember where or who. I only remember trusting the source.
Wish Lope was in there but Trammell has potential. Hopefully Matthews remembers it's a roady. Funny how he's batting 8th, but he's 9th when Meyers plays. Espada can't help himself.
Wow..... fully expected Springer to f*** us there. Lambert escapes again and only 13 pitches. ______ Delgado, leadoff single !! Top order enter. Body prepared.
Altuve lost a step. 2+ years ago he beats out that double play and scores on Alvarez’s double. He needs to be hitting in the bottom of the order.
He led off the game with a double and scored the first run. So I think we can give him a break today.
The last time the Astros had back- to back- to back jacks was 2019 (Altuve, Bregman and Yordan). What's crazy is 7 years later Altuve and Yordan are still on this team.
