It's made me think that every US Gold Cup match or friendly needs to be played in MLS stadiums. They're nice, compact, and create a true home field advantage. The NFL stadiums are cavernous for these matches and a detriment to everyone involved.
Considering the prices, it's unlikely I'm getting to another match. Luckily for me, this one was covered by a friend so I'm not exactly sure what they cost but I have an idea. Considering the amount of nearly full stadiums, even for the lesser matchups, I'm curious how FIFA is going to handle this in 2030. Is this a one-off and they'll revert back to something more affordable or is this the way forward? I have a hard time imagining a tournament mostly held in Europe will accept these prices. Outside of the prices and political nonsense, on the pitch this has been a fantastic tournament to date. I still am not crazy about 48 teams but when some of those teams that would be in that group of 16 that wouldn't have otherwise made it are making this much noise, how can you complain? Getting to watch 4 matches a day for 3 weeks is amazing. And adding on that the USMNT has played some of it's best football...maybe ever...just makes it that much more enjoyable. Can't wait to see what the next 3 weeks brings.
The new format doesn’t bother me yet, I like it, but think it’s giving some countries big egos that are misleading, but hey, if that grows the game and allows world talent to emerge down the road it’s a good thing.
I think the World Cup should be large. It's a global party and having places like Cape Verde on this stage is worth it.
Messi is the GOAT. Nobody is better. Austria got too many fakers and crybabies, you need all able bodied if you’re gonna be playing against Messi.
