Hegseth is LEADING. What a job he is doing. Reversing the damage done by DEI-hire Lloyd Austin. GOOD DAY
Two months after Hegseth’s regressive move, Air Force base faces major flu outbreak Eight weeks after flu vaccines became optional in the armed forces, we’re already seeing the consequences of the Pentagon chief’s shortsighted policy. A major flu outbreak has sickened nearly 160 troops at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas less than two months after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that U.S. troops would no longer be required to be vaccinated for the flu, defense officials said. The outbreak at the base in San Antonio raced through an Air Force Basic Military Training wing, where new recruits sleep on bunk beds in open bays and share meals at large communal tables. The report added that only about 40% of Air Force trainees have opted to take the flu vaccine — a total that used to be 100%, because it wasn’t optional. In response to the outbreak at Lackland, the base received an exception from Hegseth’s policy and is now requiring recruits to get vaccinated. Of course, by that reasoning, it’s unclear why every other base wouldn’t take similar steps to prevent its own outbreak. Everyone really should’ve seen this coming. https://www.ms.now/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/hegseth-vaccines-air-force-base-flu-outbreak
I never saw a bunk bed at Lackland At least in the 3706 BMTS. How the heck is the MTI gonna flip that top bunk??
I've never been there but we had bunk beds in boot camp in Orlando. I thought all boot camps had bunk beds. Then again, it's that Air Force and they are a bit more pampered. When I was at my first duty station in Puerto Rico I remember a couple Air Force guys commenting on us stripping, waxing and buffing floors in the MAC terminal. They said they have civilians do that stuff. LOL
When I was at Chanute AFB in beautiful Rantoul Illinois our main dining hall won the Hennessy trophy for best AF dining hall. It too was contracted out. I didn't do floors and such until tech school. And never again after that. We too had civilians for that.
