Jabari is streaky has low bbiq and can barely shoot. His defense is mid. He and KD are both part of the problem.
Fair enough, I just feel like we need a young point guard badly and by the time Stone realizes it, it will be too late.
Ya if you’re not a reed believer i get that. I would be SHOCKED if this coming season giddey is better than reed though.
I just don’t get the Jabari hate. Last year he was the 6th best PF rebounds per game in guys that played more than half the season. He was 14th in scoring avg and sixth in bpg. 14th in 3p%, 1st in minutes played. He’s 22 years old with a frame capable of 25 lbs more of muscle which would make him a candidate as a stretch center. Top 1/3 in PF’s in the league at age 22, playing for a lousy coach and is on a reasonable contract. Both years he has been one of our best playoff performers (although that’s not saying much). He is not the problem with this roster construction.
Who said I want Giddey instead of Reed I want both. Is there a limit on guards? lol Also Reed can pass but he's more of a shooter. Theer's huge difference between Giddey who is an elite passer and Reed lol
Its not hate to tell the truth about Jabari. Those numbers that you stated literally just mean nothing. 14th in scoring average for 4's lol ok? I think its homerism when you inflate and glaze someone who is average. He's ok but he's more of a role player when we can have someone better thats already on the team in the same spot and have an elite playmaker just by trading him.
Reed giddey and sengun would be basically the worst defense in history. I can’t fathom reed and josh or josh and sengun playing together for any amount of time. I just rather reed have the ball then giddey.
You cant fathom it because you underrate them lol It was just proven with the Brunson talk which you just brushed off. Sengun isnt a bad defender. Actually our defensive numbers go down when he sits. He has a higher rating than Adams and Capela. He's a better defender than Joker who has won a chip. That doesnt matter though because you guys think what you want to sometimes regardless of reality. Caring tooo much about defense is why our offense sucks.
No i said brunson is an elite on ball guy, that's not relevant to the discussion about giddey to me. You also very well may be right, i simply put little to no value on players who are solid but not great on ball guys that suck on defense. I would not want giddey, i would not want herro, i would not want ingram, i never wanted derozen, those types of players do not appeal to me at all when trying to build a contender unless they are making very little money.
You dont want anyone then because most of the winning guards are comparable to Giddey. Jamal Murray won a chip with Joker and is actually way worse than Giddey at defense. Both Joker and Murray have lower defensive ratings than Sengun and Giddey. Its no coincidence that the Celtics and the Knicks won chips after their defensive forward coaches were fired. Both being replaced by more offensive minded guys. Freds defensive rating is elite but where did that get us? He can barely shoot and for a guard thats terrible.
It’s not hate, it’s disappointment. Where we drafted Jabari, he should be elite. If one of your best players is 14th best at his position at anything, you have a bad team. And that player probably needs to be upgraded.
I will note that Jabari is younger than every power forward ahead of him in the player rankings (although that might change after this draft). I think it's likely he'll be in the top 10 for his position when he reaches his prime years. That's certainly good enough to be a 4th/5th starter.
He is not asked to produce a lot of points. He is fulfilling the role he has been assigned and doing it well. He gets better and stronger every year at 22 years old. Draft position makes no difference to me. Jabari’s “disappointment” is on the fans and the role he has been faithfully executing without whining. The team dynamic that Ime has created is predicated on one dominant offensive player, good defense (not anymore) and being tough. 14 out 30 is not bad if you are the 4th option on a team by design.
Not a trade but I was wondering what y’all think about Norman Powell as a FA signing. Is he a guy who could slip through the cracks and end up signing for the NTMLE like Gary Trent did last year? Or is he a sure fire resigning by the Heat. He’s 33 so he doesn’t check the sub 30 requirement but it looks like he checks the other boxes. *Disclaimer: I’m going off of his stats. I’m pretty unfamiliar with Powell’s game. FVV/Reed Amen/Powell Bari/Okogie KD/Tari Sengun/Adams
I think what most are missing is that Giannas is not coming here and from what Im reading, Boston does not want to trade Brown, so whats our move to get better? The OPTIMAL move would be to feature our best player which is Amen. Its not Sengun nor is it KD. To me, putting him in the best case scenario is to feature him ala Westbrook and Giannas; four other players around him that can shoot beyond the arc. I don't mind bringing back FVV, because I think Amen still needs a veteran presence to teach him the intricacies of the PG position. Or I think you pair him with a player who can similarly attack the rim and who can shoot from the outside. I think Amen and Giddey would make a formidable back court for yrs to come. I still think a trade of Giddey, J. Smith and #15 for Sengun would be a good trade for both teams. Then you can have additional assets with the #15 pick to bring in a center w/o trading any of your 2027 picks. You can draft Henri Vessar or trade two #2's for Kel'el Ware since Miami is looking to move him. PG - Giddey 6'7 SG - Amen 6'8 SF - KD 6'11 PF - Jabari 6'11 C- Ware or Vessar 7'0 This way we can highlight Amen more, gives them rim protection, plus length.
So is John Collins. He averaged 20&10 when he was 22. He’s good enough to be a 4th or 5th starter. He’s good enough to be a highly ranked PF. He just go’s home when the best teams get together and start playing eachother and positional rankings stop meaning anything.
With Sengun and Amen on the team, the Rockets are still going to have two players on the court that primarily going to get their buckets around the rim....thats not modern basketball. During the regular season you can get by but during the playoffs its easier to game plan for. All you have to do is clogg the paint.
Powell for a cheap backup is ok with me. I’m starting to think that Sengun will not garner enough return to move him. We should take the gamble that he or Amen develop a shot over the next 2 years (we’re not competing next year anyway). We should remove KD from the equation and get another young player from a middlin 2026 draft pick to develop(and maybe a decent depth piece or two). Take Ime’s FVV crutch away as well. Make Ime find another way to run an offense, rather than to just turn it over to his vet of the moment. Let Amen and Sengun loose to see what they can do without having to defer to FVV or Durant. If we win 40 games instead of 50, but Amen and Sengun improve, it will be a winning season for us. If we run it back and FVV and KD dominate the offense just to be kicked out in the first round, it is a losing season for us. Under this scenario we retain all our future draft assets and young players to adjust the roster appropriately when the opportunity arises. If the filler in KD trade is expiring we also will have more cap space.
