Nolan was the epitome of getting them out “with your best pitch” pitcher. To date, I’m sure there’s a huge amount of baseball fans that still don’t understand how incredibly dominant he was and how long he did it just doesn’t happen. His body was born to do what it did.
Great quote from an Astro: "He didn't even know where the weight room was." They ran and played long-toss b/w starts back then. Pretty sure that was Leo Mazzone's (Braves pitching coach) workout regimen.
I was sure the team who signed Tucker as FA would come to regret it greatly but I thought it would happen after like 3 years. Maybe the Dodgers thought the same and did go out of the box with huge short deal trying to just pay for the remaining good years and rack more WS titles now. There's concensus that Devers is terrible with his contract, bad defense and kinda semi cancer in clubhouse but he's better than Tucker so far in terrible hitters park. Few games ago Pirates booth made fun of the Tucker lollygagging on D. Sad thing ofcourse (as said here b4) Dodgers can afford it . Devers 29.5m (33m in 2027) .732 OPS, 10hr 35rbi -2 OAA Tucker 60m .726 OPS, 6hr 40rbi -5 OAA (3rd lousiest at RF)
Tigers have recalled Trei Cruz from AAA. Grandson of Astros legend Jose Cruz and son of former Astro Jose Cruz Jr will hopefully make his MLB debut soon. When that happens the Cruz's will be the 5th 3 generation family in MLB history ( Bell's, Boone's, Coleman's, and Hairston's) This is why I love baseball.
Very cool for the Cruz family, Trei is 27 and a non-prospect so it's great to see him get a taste of MLB If Landon Hairston (AzState stud, nicknamed "Hairy Bonds") makes it after being drafted next year, they'll be the first 4-generation family (great grandfather-grandfather-father & uncle-him)
The problem with baseball is that the dodgers don't care and it's not hurting them at all that they paid that much for a underperforming player. This is why the lockout is needed. Dodgers can pay Tucker double what he's making, and they'd still not care as they are still the best team in baseball
Tucker is clearly having a down year, but I doubt this will be his norm. He'll recover to the norm eventually.
