And down goes AJ. Great game by Lambert. He's doing what Imai was supposed to. Pay the man, Tatsuya. Loperfido made my prediction go well. Six games below 500. Astros are 0-6 in attempts to reach five. Stay tuned.
You just made my point about starting the best players at least until they get back to .500. It's the price they should have to pay for sucking so bad the first month of the season.
So who is the moron in charge that decided Lambert shouldn't make the opening day roster? He shouldn't be on this team right now, we've got more luck than damn sense that he is. From today's BM article: When right-hander Peter Lambert was told he wasn’t going to make the Astros’ Opening Day roster following a good spring showing, he was granted his release to pursue other opportunities. There were a few “internal talks” about signing with other teams, but he chose to re-sign with Houston on another Minor League deal three days later. “I’m sure glad I stayed,” he said. So are the Astros, who brought Lambert up from Triple-A Sugar Land in mid-April and have watched him become a rotation lynchpin.
As a SP he wasn’t going to push anyone out, Brown, Burrows, Imai, LMJ and Javier, and hell. Burrows and Imai hardly had an era. Lambert didn’t have the best showing but now you think about Roma, Munoz and Weiss.
That’s a fair criticism. Everyone passed on him - but he was on the board when the Astros drafted. Ultimately it’s the owner and GM. However in this case, Brown mentioned Lambert as someone he wanted when he was invited and during Spring Training said Lambert impressed him the most with his stuff amongst all pitchers in Spring Training. My understanding is that a vote is taken or debated.
Oh I wasn't criticizing anything/anybody. Just learned it and posted it. The MLB Draft is so ludicrously random. I like some players that I've watched, and say "this guy looks pretty good", but there's zero upon zero guarantee that they'll ever make it out of AA. Baseball be tough. The last guy I saw in person, talked to people about (including Nolan Ryan) and geeked out about was Whitley, I said they need to draft this kid, and he was all-world until about AA+ or so and then whatever the **** happened. We've talked about Reed before. Jackson (GA catcher, winning all of the POY awards) will be a player, but what the hell do I know?
Vinny turned around a couple Wagner FBs for blown saves, then hit a couple for the home team. Seems right for Houston to have top noth Tex-Mex.
ESPN might be the slowest site sometimes. It's taken over 30 minutes before while everyone else had finished and went to bed. Really strange this time because it was already showing SEA with L1 in their STRK.
