How is it money he hasn't earned? It's called a guaranteed contract. He suffered an unfortunate injury while at work (at a team pre-season camp) and did everything right afterwards as a de facto coach from the sidelines while working his butt off (from all accounts) to rehab and return to the court ASAP.
FVV is a better PG than KD FVV is a better PG than Reed FVV is a better PG than Amen. I'm all for trading FVV but it better be for an upgrade. There is ZERO chance of Stone/Ime trading FVV just to dump him.
Im not talking about the unfortunate injury, although the end result is gonna be paying $50 mil for a missed season and what is likely to be a sub-par season coming off ACL surgery as an older player. I’m talking about his second season on a max contract, where he shot an unacceptable 36% from the field. The amount of leeway Fred gets is incredible. He’s literally had one good season with Houston and he’s been paid over $110 million. I just don’t understand why fans don’t have higher expectations of productivity when you are paying top dollar. I personally think Fred is on the decline. It looked that way to me 2 yrs ago and I don’t think it gets better coming off injury 2 yrs older. The 2-yrs $50 mil was a reasonable proposition if we are contending. But one cannot watch last season and delude themselves we are close to contending…even with a healthy Fred. it is what it is. I really like what Fred is about, but he hasn’t been worth all the money we’ve paid him and I think we need to find a starting point guard that isn’t old and coming off injury. I’m fine having him play out this last yr, but I’m not expecting starter-caliber play from Fred. I’ll be devastated if we extend him.
The meal just won't be the same without Fred the Bread. Bread VanVleet goes well with. Almond Thompson, Alperen Cinnabun, Dorian Panini-Smith, Isaiah Crawfish, Jae'Sean Steak, JBanana Split Jr., JD Venison, Jeff Green Beans, Josh Pierogi, KDonut, Sheppard Pie, Steven Kiwi Cobbler, Tristen Fig Newton
He is completely overrated here - he doesn't create for anyone, he can't finish at the rim, he is slower than dirt, and now has an ACL recovery - he does protect the ball, but we need the ball and players to make mistakes to learn from them - Reed and Amen need that ball..... FVV is in the way.....he made his money, we overpaid for his leadership, we should have never given him another year with a PO.....now you have to let him exercise it and see how it goes. DD
Dintjaknow... once we lose FVV we will miraculously have an upgraded pg who will fulfil all our needs and desires and have nary an imperfection! The table will be set for all to eat and his illustrious 3pt shooting will create great spacing for all! I'm sure he will be far cheaper than FVV's 25M... and our new pg will play great defense, never get injured, wont complain about a non-call or ever make a nasty tweet! Oh it will be a joyous time and he will be embraced by all of CF! who? oh, damned if I know... lol i wonder what Ty Lawson is up to... he had like a 98% approval rating on CF when we traded for him...
Kyrie staying put with the Mavs...we might become the worst basketball team in Texas next season, smh
Unfortunately there is no market for him following his ACL injury. Our best hope is that he has a productive season to rebuild his value.
faster and tougher than Sheppard. Prob wouldn’t have turned the ball over in game 3. And doesn’t let players easily cut for a layup or ball watch
