Gambling on your own team is bad, worse than what DW4 did. With DW4, it was outside of the team. I wouldn't want this kid on my team period! And a 2nd rnd pick? It just shows you the mentality of where some are on this board to even suggest such a thing. They would want him, rather than CJ.
We already have a QB with immense baggage.... and that baggage is that he's had some of the worst QB performances in the history of the franchise. Unless they are a rapist like Watson, I don't think i really care about the baggage if they can be legitimate Stroud insurance.
Its always been like that. Each team submits their offer and lets say in this case, if two teams submit 2nd rnd offers, lets use the Texans and Titans. The team with the lowest win total from the previous yr, win the offer. So, it will be the Titans.
Totally non-Texans related, but... Calais Campbell has been in the NFL for 27 years. Prove me wrong. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/official-week-15-cardinals-texans.327828/page-18#post-15963143 He's signed a 1 year deal for his 19th season. Cameron Jordan is coming back for his 16th year, all with the Saints iirc. That's what made me think of Calais.
Did sorsby bet on his team to lose? If not, Texans should get him. They need to take a chance. They had the chance to draft Jaxson dart and they traded their pick to the giants.
Per Google, he admitted to have betted on his team over 40 times. Look it up. If he ever betted on them to lose, I can't say but if a player knows the in's and out's of a team it wouldn't surprise me if he did. And being that he's your QB, not IF but WHEN he has a bad game.....thats not going to be the first thing to cross your mind? Did he place a bet on the game? Of course it is. It'll be on his teammates mind, the HC, everybody's. Im curious to see how his NFL career goes, if he has one.
Baseball is probably over for me this year. I’m looking forward to Stroud squandering the best defense in the league again. This time he’ll do it with a good running game behind him. Should be fun. (not actually looking forward to it)
Just remembered and looked up the Cowboy supplemental QB draft plan: Draft Aikman #1 overall Take Steve Walsh in the 1RD of the SupDraft later that year (Cowboys gave up a #1 pick the next year) That pick turned into #1 overall pick Jeff George (aka: Will Levis Sr) Same draft: Dallas trades up with the Steelers for the #17 pick (for #21 and 81 overall) Dallas drafts Emmitt Smith at 17 See what happens Hope to trade one QB Jimmy Johnson loved Walsh (dating back to Miami), but he just couldn't be better than Aikman and JJ knew it Idiot Saints trade 1/2/3rd round picks (during the 1990 season, 3rd week) in the next draft for Walsh The 1st rounder turned into HOF OT Erik Williams (#3 pick) The other 2 picks were traded with JAGs to NE for the #1 overall pick That pick was Russell Maryland Profit? Yes. If Caserio can pull something like this off, I'd draft Sorsby in the first for sure.
On Sorsby, there are reports he wired thousands of dollars to an out of state friend to place bets on his behalf while he was living in Texas. This apparently happened in Summer 2025. That very likely rises to the level of wire fraud, which has a 5 year statute of limitations (10 years if he made the transfers from or to a FDIC bank). I'll pass on the guy who could be indicted on federal felony charges anytime in the 10 years.
Wouldn't you think that they would Shohei him some grace? I mean if he's a first rounder or even a second rounder and all...
True (also nice pun). I'm pretty risk adverse to such thing given my profession. Also, a new, likely embattled, AG might want what they see as an easy win. Sorsby isnt exactly popular with the public right now.
In nearly every situation, what matters most is performance. If he looks good, no one will care he gambled while in college. If he's bad, that's a different story. Hell, we had people defending Watson even after it came out that he was a rapist because they thought he was a good QB...most stopped once they saw him play in Cleveland and he was awful....but if he was good, they'd still be defending him to this day.
Looking forward to this season. 1 first time since this team was created. And I don't drink Kool-Aid. Besides, if you believe the defense is awesome, then go all in and wish the team is ready to bring a parade home... All the expects on how bad CJ is, good luck. If he sucks as you predict, then more heartbeat and smash TV. But take a walk of faith. Don't do the "what have you done lately" guy. But nothing I can say will change your minds.
He’s an upside pick. Not many possess his ability to throw off platform and on the run with that type of arm talent. He’s not perfect. But also not going to get a chance to take that type of talent very often in this scenario. If CJ falls on his face, we might have a chance at Leavitt next year too.
