If there’s a trade to be made, I’m including him in the package every time. The only guys I’m keeping off the table are Reed, Amen, Bari, and KD. Everyone else is available if it makes the team better.
Weird thread. You can make the team infinitely better by trading KD. You can make the team better by trading Reed. You can make the team better by trading Jabari. You can't make the team better by trading Alpi - unless of course, you're the first person on the forum to actually come back with how you'd replace the hub of the offense with a lesser player, and make the team better. So what you tried to say is, you'd trade people you don't like to make the team better. What a foreign concept.
Call me crazy... but i'd say replacing him with a true rim protector - and having a pg that could run the offense... lol
Not saying FVV makes us contenders, but the Rockets struggled because there was no ball handler like FVV. Reed absolutely sucks at PG. At this stage, I would take FVV over Reed any day.
People seem to forget just how bad FVV was during the regular season. He absolutely redeemed himself in the playoffs and deserves credit for stepping up when it mattered most, but that doesn't erase months of poor play. Coming off a major injury, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable betting on him going forward. As good as he was in the postseason, point guard is a position that can be replaced, and I'd be open to moving on if a better option becomes available.
If the Rockets can get a better PG, all for it. Until then, FVV is what the Rockets need, and I do not think the Rockets have any pull to get much. They might just run it back with FVV return and maybe add some 3-point shooters.
Did we not just see what KD did this season? As for Reed, that was basically his rookie season. He's still developing, and I think he'd look a lot better if we had a true rim protector behind him to clean up some of his defensive mistakes while he learns. Bari is on a pretty team-friendly contract, and every contender needs versatile role players who can defend, rebound, and fit next to stars. Players like him have value beyond the box score. We have enough data for from alp now... and im not going to get into it. I love alp but if there is a star available I would include him and Fred. And if this star isn't a point guard, I would go after one.
You trust fred coming back from a serious injury? After seeing this playoff we might have to hide him on defense now.
Yeah, he’s wasting a slot in the Kevin Durant School for Power Forwards. Trade him for Zachary Risacher.
Unfortunately although FVV should’ve been a 2 year bridge he’ll end up playing here until he retires and will become an assist coach I would bet You thought Fred was a bridge but he’ll end up being an era that the organization treated like a superstar. We are losers
fred didn’t even play this year so how is him not on the team making this team better? He served as a coach/teacher to Sheppard and Thompson this past year. His contributions to this team has been great.
He played great in 3 games, mediocre in 1 game, and awful in 3 games. The dialogue about how great he was in the playoffs is propaganda. He is a plus on the defensive side of the ball when available, but it does not make up for his poor offense (bottom 5 pg in the league the last time he played). We are going no where with the geriatric brigade. FVV, KDD, and Adams should all be shipped out. I’d include DFS, but he will cost you assets to get rid of other than salary filler at the deadline. Amen, Jabari, should all come back. Sengun should be shopped, but unless it’s bringing back a top 3 pick this year or a haul of good players and future picks, he should be kept. Of course, this is all wishful thinking. This FO is going to sign or trade for some journeyman backup PG like Shroeder and run it back. Ime and Stone are the real problems, not the players.
If you're posting on a Rockets forum and want it cleaned up: > There are other veterans who can provide leadership. What turned me off was that first podcast he did when the team was rolling. It felt like he had to remind everyone not to forget about him. Maybe that wasn't his intent, but it came across as self-centered to me. Then you look at these playoffs and the fact that Fred is coming back from a torn ACL. He's already undersized, and that's a tough injury to return from at his age. I'm not convinced he'll be able to hold up at the same level. I appreciate what he's done for the team, but I think it's time to move on. If Kyrie was availble, I rather have him.
