If Matthews can figure out how to hit in the ice box as well as he can hit on the road, he will be pretty good. I also consider Cam a draft pick since Brown was definitely coveting him but couldn't draft him.
You have to be forward thinking and know that 2027 will most likely be a lockout year. You back load the contract with a guarantee that you will pay them if there's a lockout
The only monies the players don't get paid during a lockout are their regular season salaries. All bonuses/deferments/etc are still in place. IIRC.
If I told you at the beginning of the year that Hunter and Hader wouldn't play until June and Pena, Altuve would both miss a couple of weeks, yet the Stros would only be 4.5 games out of leading the division with Espada as the manager what would you think.
Overall I wouldn’t think much different than I do now, and that’s that Houston should sell at the deadline unless they win a lot of games over the next 4 weeks.
Javier did not have one of his better games in Albuquerque last night. He still probably needs at least 2 rehab starts. On the surface it looks OK: 3 1/3 inning 3 hits, 1 BB, 6 ks. Gave up 2 runs on a HR to right/center that may or may mot have been elevation aided. Other
I ran out of time to finish my last post. Javier did not have one of his better games in Albuquerque last night. He still probably needs at least 2 rehab starts. On the surface it looks OK: 3 1/3 inning 3 hits, 1 BB, 6 ks. Gave up 2 runs on a HR to right/center that may or may not have been elevation aided. Other run was a BB that came around after he was taken out. He threw: 1 FB 94.0 1 FB 93.6 5 FB 93.1-93.3 8 FB 92.5-92.9 9 FB 92.0-92.4 7 FB 91.5-91.9 5 FB 91.0-91.4 1 FB 90.8 By inning: 1 (9) = 92.2-93.6 avg 92.9 2 (11) = 91.9-94.0 avg 92.6 3 (8) = 91.0-92.8 avg 91.9 4 (9) = 90.8-82.9 avg 91.6 Highlights/lowlights Batter 1 swinging K on 92.7 on top rail Batter 2 single on 92.2 middle/middle 2-1 pitch Batter 3 called K on 93.2 on inner rail at belt Batter 4 single on middle/middle change on 0-1 pitch Batter 5 called K on 93.3 at knees. End of the night.
You almost always want to sell, so this isn't surprising. I'm shocked that they're as close to the top of the division as they are.
Yes, arrogance. He thought he was so good that he didn't need to make friends or play nice and instead preferred to throw things in people's faces or just deny things and think he can get away with it. Perfect example was how he handled the reporter-assistant GM fiasco. That's basically the definition of arrogance. Ultimately, it left him no friends and cost him his career.
I'm not sure it would be too surprising. Last year, they had similar injuries and same crappy manager and finished the season only 3 games out of a much stronger division.
March 4-2 April 8-18 May 15-14 June 8-7 You can't go 8-18 in April and expect to make the postseason. Not unless you counter it with a scorching month in May, June, or July.
