    I don’t think Atlanta would do it, but sure.

    If the FO know they need to take a swing to keep their jobs, but ownership (correctly) won't sign off on trading future picks:

    HOU -> DAL:
    Alperen Sengun
    DFS' expiring contract

    DAL -> HOU:
    Kyrie Irving
    Dereck Lively

    - Kyrie and Lively are both high risk bets; Lively just had his third foot surgery, has played 30 games in two seasons, and is still not doing basketball activites. Kyrie hasn't played in 18 months after his ACL tear. Significant chance both players are zeroes.
    - But when healthy both are high impact analytically in the ways our FO likes, and are in favorable contract situations
    - Kyrie almost certainly wants out of Dallas; all his connections in the FO, ownership, and coaching staff are gone
    - Masai has a history of liking international bigs (Gasol, Valanciunas, Poeltl etc)
    - Mavs don't have their picks after this year so their only access to high level young talent will be via a trade like this
    - Neither team sends picks so both teams can argue they are selling high
    - If it doesn't work, well, the FO were probably getting fired or re-assigned anyway next summer

    Caveat: I would definitely not do this. But I'm not sure our FO wouldn't do something like this, if desperate

    Why would you trade KD to bring Giannis? Doesn't it make more sense to have them together?

    It’s to build around Amen. Giannis goes to Miami. We get two 26 picks, a stretch center, and better guard than FVV and Wiggins to replace Tari. . A good bench piece in Portis. Still have the nets 27 pick, our own 28 picks, and both 29 picks and plenty of cap room come 28. It’s primarily to get younger and compete a few years down the road, when Ime is gone.

    Build around Amen with what? None of those picks look like difference makers. We’ll get younger, but not better.

    You don’t know what the picks are going to be. I’d rather take a few shots than run it back with a bunch of injury prone vets that won’t get out of the first round. Standing pat with kd, FVV, dfs, and Adams is just plain stupid. You keep Sengun if you can’t get a good package. I’d take a peanut butter sandwich for FVV and a midround pick in this draft for a 38 year old ball hog should be a no brainer.

    Only if Klay is completely healthy and if he’s willing to come to Houston. I think he wants to be back with GS.

    I think he left GS for a reason and I don’t think that’s changed. I think he wants to be on a playoff team.

    I would hope that after a dismal season that culminated in losing their draft pick, they might see how fleeting the opening can be and take a big swing.

    Perfect team to trade Reed Sheppard and a 2027 1st to.

    Schroeder for Capela and a FRP sounds good to me.

    Take a helluva lot more than that. Maybe Reed both 27 picks and one of the 29, but that probably wouldn’t be enough either. #2 picks in the draft are expensive in a draft like this.

    That’s probably the type of move that this org will make.

    Call me crazy, but it would be tempting to think about inserting Alpy and [filler - eg. DFS] to bring back Herro and Turner [plus negotiable assets]

    Or possibly one of Jabari OR Tari [SnT]for Herro [plus minor assets]
