That was a question for HLM. Im a Texans fan, I’m not a CJ only fan like he is. He thinks he’s a top 10 guy right now, and the rest of the team is holding CJ back. If that’s the case, he should have value correct? I do hope he turns into a top 10 guy. Or at least be able to win with him. Still wouldn’t want to pay him if that’s the best he can be. And it’s not about being “right”. There were a few here that were adamant that CJ is elite, a good athlete and could be Mahomes. He was better than Maye or Caleb. They’ve been real quiet.
There has been on several occasions during his tenure that CJ has carried the Texans to wins. You can nitpick certain performances all day. Even against NE last yr in the Playoffs, as bad as CJ was playing, he had them driving in the 4th Qtr and they were only down by only 8 points but Woody Marks fumbled....NOBODY TALKS ABOUT THAT! They could have gotten the game with a point or tied.
This would be a worst case scenario. They would be paying for a middling QB that cant bring a Lombardi to Kirby and wont be able to afford Lassiter/Bullock etc....
Like I said, it's everybody's fault but CJ's. I have a plan, I would trade up into the top 10 or so using Lassiter and two 1st rd picks. Then pick one of Drew Mestenmaker or CJ Carr.
I think CJ has value. A 23yr opd Rookie of the yr, who has won 3 playoff games in 3yrs. All while playing under 2 first time OCs, an underwhelming OL and weapons goung in and out of the lineup, Im sure he has value. And yes, I still rate him in the Top 10. He's definitely ahead of Herbert, Lawrence and especially your QB, Will Levis
Well I agree with Levis being worse, but I wouldn't put CJ above #13. This could be his year though. We'll see how he does with a better offensive line, and all his preparation and training for this season. The defense saved us from losing most of last year, that's for sure. I'd love to see him take a leap forward. He's had plenty of time to analyze all his mistakes in the playoffs, and hopefully learned some valuable lessons. Hopefully, we won't have to lose him to concussions again. I'm hoping that won't be a reoccurring issue.
Im sure he had time to assess what happened last yr. He played poorly and he needs to own it. However, he played well in year 1 and 2, all things considering. And I can not pick him less than #10; 1) Stafford 2) Mahommes 3) Burrows 4) Jackson 5) Allen 6) Purdy 7) Goff 8) C. Williams 9) Maye 10) Stroud/Prescott
LMAO CJ only fanboy, it's like you didn't even watch the playoffs. Even if I give you it was everybody elses fault against the Pats (Which it obviously wasn't) that still doesn't explain the crap game he played against the Steelers when he had a dominate run game and was well protected.
There are still people out there who thinks Hurts isn't trash? That's pretty wild to me. Even with a literal superteam around him (3 elite pass catchers, elite rb, best in the league oline) he's just mediocre. He's at best a fringe starter, the idea that's he's good is laughable.
If the O-line can be 23 good or better with better run blocking maybe he bounce back. I did not realize 23 was the best O-line we had in the Demeco stroud era and that one wasn’t even that good.
