Are there any players from 3-12 that you would be willing to trade Amen for plus additional assets? We know what Amen can do but is there a potential generational player in that range you'd be willing to roll the dice on?
It would have to be a gigantic haul for me to trade Amen. Probably only 4 players in the league, I would trade straight up, Wemby, Ant, Flagg and Jokic. There are others if they were younger. The teams in the top 3 this year don’t have good enough players to pair with their pick for me to pull the trigger. I realize that I’m out there with my admiration for Amen, but I haven’t seen a kid with his work ethic and bad-ass attitude since Larry Bird. Someone with that athleticism and determination is extremely rare.
Love Amen too and the last person I want traded from this team. But I see a lot of post here about Alpi and Amen and their shooting when both are on the floor. Just wanted to see what everyone feels on how much we should get back if the Rockets decide to sell high now.
Boozer, Peterson or Dybantsa would be a conversation especially with Amen being a year away from being close to a max player.
There not enough on their own. So who does Washington, Utah, or Memphis have that you want in addition and who are you sending out to match salaries? Sarr is the best thing Washington has to offer, not enough. Memphis has nobody. Utah Jaren Jackson and Ace Bailey plus the no. 2 for KD and Amen, yes, maybe, but would Utah?
I love Amen's game and still think he can become a top 10-15 player in the NBA during his prime years, but I am incredibly high on Boozer in particular and would definitely be willing to trade Amen for him. What Boozer did at age 18 in high-level college ball is virtually unprecedented. When factoring in age relative to league, he had one of the greatest true freshman seasons of all time, right up there with KD's, if not better. I know some people think Boozer is high floor / limited ceiling for eye test reasons, but I disagree. I think people are undervaluing the same things they always undervalue (basketball IQ, intangibles, "feel for the game") when it comes to Boozer, and I think his physical traits are also somewhat underrated. I see him as a sure bet to be at least a #2 option on a championship team with good enough defense not to need to be "covered for", and I think he has a very real chance at being a #1 option. Given his young age, he's also a candidate to grow another inch or two, which would be put him in a range to have truly dominant size as a power forward. I have more concerns with Dybantsa (whose season was also fantastic overall but whose defense and AST:TO rates were concerning) and Peterson (injury problems). I would be on the fence about trading Amen for either of those guys.
I have my eyes on Caleb Wilson, Darryn Peterson and Cam Boozer.....but I think they would not storm out of the gates like Dybantsa. A couple sounded like generational but needs at least 1 year time I think.
Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun are both positive players in the playoffs. Early in their careers, while playing together in predominantly “two non shooters” lineups, versus veteran teams, in two series that their teams lost, they’ve won their minutes. I’d have them off the table unless it was a top 3 pick plus a good player, too good to say no offer. If anything trading into the lottery it would be something like: Jabari for Bogdonovic and # 5
No but I would trade anyone else. Amen is our best player outside KD and only 23. Trading for a top 10 pick should be to try to pair another guard with Amen. Sending Amen kinda makes the trade a wash unless the pick turns into a superstar Wonder what it would take to get Burries from Dallas or GSW. KD? I’d do it
Im talking about the scoreboard, it’s not a half court beauty pageant with 3 judges. It was a disaster everytime Amen came out of the game.
Amen projects to potentially be one of the best perimeter defenders in NBA history at the minimum (his only actual comparison may be Prime Lebron). If his offensive game grows *at all* he is a better prospect than anyone in this draft. So....no. If we're talking pure projection, Peterson is the best prospect if everything pans out followed by Boozer. I dont like the rangey 4 as a 1A prospect whatsoever.
