We are launching a new show/company that is to help independent gamers find an audience for their game, we are going to start by highlighting some games we have found and let the audience tell us the ones they like.

Publishers suck, we want to change that.

Please subscribe here, website coming soon, and show will launch very quickly.....should be fun....we are doing an entire SNL style of show with a cast of characters and feature gamers, and creators alike....be an early one in, and help shape our direction.

    Thanks,

    DD

Destiny 2 being threatened with shutdown is exactly why we are doing this - their CCU in the last few days hit 150k users.

We need to join together and force publisher's hands.

If we can get a large enough audience - we might be able to fund some indie stuff ourselves as their are a ton of games in that 250k - 1m area that need support and publishers are not giving it.

You know, making games for a living sounded great when I was younger. Then I found out what the industry is all about, and I'm glad I just play them. I wish everyone was like Larian.

    I worked at a kind-of game studio for a bit as a QA tester/engineer.

It is indeed grueling work. You have to have a real passion for the craft.

Small, indie game devs have had a real renaissance recently. If your product is good, you will succeed.

The people who are getting ****ed right now are the "not quite" AAA developers.

That is actually NOT true, so so many AAA developers are now out of work because of AI.

Publishers have stopped making AAA games for the most part, they have a couple big ones, but the number of AAA jobs is down 40% in just the last year alone, and many are forming small indie companies.

Lots of games that are genre defining are Indie, Crimson Desert, Hell Divers.

That makes sense with the rise of AI.

Most of my contacts in the industry have moved on, but I always remember the biggest struggle being stuck in the no man's land between a small independent shop and a giant blockbuster studio.

Blockbuster studios - ship a title and lay everyone off........small studios try to make other projects along the way.....but are woefully underfunded.

That’s the business model in software development now. Put together a team of contractors, crank out the product, everyone goes bye bye except a core support group.

I haven't, but I have learned to not buy "pre-release"/"early access" games, and to wait for at least a couple of months after actual release to read reviews before buying. I also only buy stuff on Steam after reading user reviews. I've bought big titles and somewhat small titles that turned out to be a lot of fun. Reading reviews has also stopped me from buying titles from both that turned out to be abandonware or utter crap games.

Now, of course, if you're just not into gaming, in general, anymore, well... there's no hope. :D
