Caden Powell hit his 8th home run of the year for Asheville.

Kellan Oakes only got through two innings and allowed four runs on four hits (two solo homers), walked two, and struck out four in his Tourists debut.

Millán finished 4-5 with three doubles and a two-run homer as the Orange team walked off with an 11-10 victory over the Rays. His third double drove in two, and those turned out to be the tying and winning runs.

    This one's for @Buck Turgidson:

The Astros signed a RHP named Lemin Bens yesterday and assigned him to the DSL Blue team.

Bens, a 16-year-old from the Dominican Republic, was playing in the Amateur Scouting League. The Amateur Scouting League is an initiative devised by MLB in partnership with some of the trainers in the Dominican Republic to help kids get into game environments, instead of just being signed straight out of workouts. This is straight from the Amateur Scouting League website:

"Run in conjunction with MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program, the Amateur Scouting League aims to give playing opportunities and scouting exposure to tomorrow’s stars in a safe, healthy environment in the Dominican Republic. Games, which are played in May, June and July across the North, South, East and Centro regions of the country, feature the latest scouting and development technology."

This is from the Trainer Partnership Program website. The site also features a directory of trainers who have affiliated themselves with the program.

"The Trainer Partnership Program is a collaboration between Major League Baseball ("MLB") and independent trainers to help develop international baseball while addressing important issues in the international market. Independent trainers are an essential part of the player development system in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Venezuela and other countries, and MLB supports trainers who are focused on developing players in a safe and healthy environment while following MLB rules and acting ethically. Participating trainers are required to meet certain MLB standards, including early registration and drug testing of their players, and they maintain an ongoing dialogue with MLB about international baseball policy."

Grayson Saunier made his pro debut in the FCL today by striking out one in a 1-2-3 1st inning.

Saunier was the Astros' 17th-round pick last year out of the University of Texas.

Lemin did a nice job following the other pitchers in his pro debut today, striking out the batter he faced for a save.

Reylin Perez, who is normally an infielder, got the save for the FCL squad today.

Perez appeared in a game at every level last season, even though he really didn't do anything of note. He's basically the guy who gets sent to fill in wherever/whenever an infielder gets hurt.

Nehomar Ochoa hasn’t slowed down much since his promotion. Through about 45 AB’s he’s got an OPS above 1,000 and hitting .357 with a couple bombs.

this has pretty much been a breakout year for him thus far. Hope he can finish just as strong

He has actually lowered his k rate since moving up so that’s a great sign. Hes getting some batted ball luck so his slash line will probably come down but overall very encouraging so far.

Down in the Dominican this morning, Yensi De La Cruz has a two-run homer (1) and a two-run triple for the Blue team. Oscar Rivas has scored three times and he's also hit a grand slam (1) for the Orange team.

De La Cruz was pretty good last year and is off to an insane start this year. DSL stats don’t matter but i would expect he is in the mix to come over next year.

He was a kid who started late and like you said, was pretty good in his debut season. I was a bit surprised that he didn't make the move stateside, but I guess the current jam of outfielders in the FCL is the reason.
