Nobody, like nobody, in the league shares your disdain for Castle. He is young and stupid at times, but he is a very good player with an NBA body. Reed may end up being better someday, but since Castle is improving his 3 point shot, 6 foot 4 and plays great perimeter defense the odds are pretty remote. +- stats are used by casuals as a last resort. You said Reed would be starting half-way into his rookie season and would run away with rookie of the year. He is not even going to start in his third year and if we add another guard probably won’t clock 20 mins a game. You’re just seeing your dream fade away. You only post after Castle has a bad game. When he has a dominant game, like he has multiple times this year and in the playoffs you go radio silence.
Awesome, I really don't care how many people you think share your opinion about Castle....it's simply not an argument. Castle is the guy that has to go for the Spurs to ever win....so I certainly hope they share your opinion of him. I hope they give him a max extension....rather than being smart enough to dump him on some sucker that confuses flash with substance.
I did “explain” it. You didn’t read my post. You made excuses for OG, so I did too. lulz And Castle doesn’t have a negative NetRtg. You’re misusing that term. On/Off difference isn’t Net Rating. It’s the difference between two NetRtgs. Again, the Spurs create leads of +6 when Castle is on the floor. You’re merely pointing out that they extend the lead faster when he’s Off, and I gave an “explanation”.
Yes his Net Rating bs was him being disingenuous as always. He hated so called “Jalen Only Fans”, but is one of two or three Reed only fans. Total hypocrite, as is his alt account DaDakota.
OG has the worst Knicks starter NetRtg in the Finals, and worse than Castle. But it’s bogus for OG, just not Castle.
There's a obvious reason that OG and Brunson's numbers got tanked, it's the minutes without KAT.... Castle doesn't have that explanation, he's the guy who tanks the numbers of others.
Spurs fans already throwing a fit in here and their team hasn't even lost yet.... you guys know it's coming don't you?
I hate the Spurs, Wemby especially. I hope Castle sucks as long as he plays for another team. There is fandom and then there is rationale.
Quit trying to explain away a bad metric. It means the metric is no longer objective. And you’re just ignoring my earlier “explanation.” Like it doesn’t count. Lulz. explain how “Minutes without KAT” isn’t equivalent to “Minutes with Ant/Shai/Brunson/Avdija” it’s the exact same statement the other way around. If KAT affects OG’s numbers, then even better superstars are going to slow the Spurs ability to outscore them, thus they still take +6 leads with Castle, just not as fast as when the KAT on the other team sits (Ant/Shai/Brunson/Avdija), when Castle will sit too.
Castle seems more physically mature than Shepherd. He is not a particularly good shooter. He is a better defender. Somewhat turnover-prone. Overall, probably better than Shepherd at this stage, but it is early.
I don’t recall this much koolaid when it came to Trevor Ariza on the lakers championship teams it was widely acknowledged and accepted that he was benefiting playing off of Kobe and Gasols gravity. oh wait it was th rockets that didn’t believe that and tried to make him “that guy” in Houston. Similar role player with similar numbers similarly playing well in the setting he was developed in, similarly failing when given the keys don’t get me wrong, it’s terrific for the spurs in certain scenarios. But acting like you have an all star here is delusional
So, you're saying OG is benefitting from KAT, like bobby said, and that's why his NetRtg is the worse on the Knicks? dude, I think you're talking to the wrong person. I'm just here today to say Bobby's stats are useless.
Here's a Visualization of @Bobbythegreat point about Castle's NetRtg vs the Team's NetRtg when he's OFF the court. what is it here that Bobby is making a big point about.
SMH, fans of useless stats While a starter is playing, a team takes a 4pt lead. When he sits (along with the opponents superstar), they add another 4pts to the lead. So, to you, that's a big deal?
Your favorite player was a -11 in a 1 point loss just the other day... guess that didn't matter right? There's really something about dogshit players that gets the usual suspects around here all hot and bothered...
If you're defining a Player based upon their +/- stat alone, then it reflects alot upon your lack of knowledge about basketball. The +/- stat involves 9 other players on the court, which means there are VARIABLES. One example is, if one player is playing great but the other four players on his team is playing poorly, that effects his +/- stat and vice versa. So, does it truly tell how he played on a given night? ITS LIKE YOU'RE TAKING A TEST WITH FOUR OTHER PEOPLE. Basketball is a game of ebbs and flows, a game of matchups, timely substitutions and playmaking. As we saw the other night, in game 4, NY made their run when Fox and Castle was in the game. So, if you look at Fox's box score vs Castle's, its not that much of a difference. Yet, Fox had a +1 and Castle had a -11 Fox played 11 more minutes, roughly a whole quarter more than Castle. Yet, he only had 5 more points, same amount of rebounds, 2 more assist, one more turnover and he had made what some will say, was the key mistake in that game. Anyone who saw the game, without looking at the stats, will tell you that Castle had the better game; based upon his defense and key free throws going down the stretch. This is why KNOWLEDGEABLE people do not just look at a player's +/- stat and judge a player's effectiveness.
There’s no point arguing with that dude lol. He’s delusional. All the 2024 redrafts out there got Castle going easily first overall, but he thinks everyone else in the basketball world is an idiot and he’s the only smart one who knows that castle is just a scrub.
It’s clear you admit that your ON/OFF stat was meaningless, when you run away from facts and try something else. The author of the DRtg stat admits it can be horrendously flawed. To you, it’s an existential stat tied to your very being. Let go Bobby, it’s a bad metric…you’ll see soon enough when NBA releases more video-based AI metrics.
