OKC would be unbeatable with Sengun vs Hartenstein. If you think we are screwed for the next several years anyway, you could do Sengun for Hartenstein (expiring if they exercise option), Cason Wallace and the 12th and 18th pick this year along with the LAC 27 pick. Amen, Cason, KD, Jabari, Hartenstein to start the season or flip KD for a mid 26 pick and expirings now or both Hartenstein and KD at the deadline. Hartenstein would be expiring, and, thus a very tradeable contract at the deadline. He is a much better defensive player than Sengun, but no outside shot. If the Bucks can’t unload Giannis maybe you could get their 10th pick and filler for KD. We could probably manage a trade up in 26 with a bunch of the resulting draft capital.
Macbook trade with spagetthi meme. Sengun is the Macbook. Chet is not significantly better than Jabari.
Is it modesty when he has the 5th or 6th best offensive skillset on the team? MVP JDub Ajay McCain Are the no brainers over him offensively. Perhaps McCain is arguable but the other 3 aren’t.
A guy who plays one side of the ball an all-star doesn’t and is a much better shooter than that all-star…sounds like 1st teaam All-NBA doesn’t it? Someone who is that much better than Sengun should be a stud, not an afterthought in the WCF.
I wouldn’t make the trade, because of Chet’s contract and injury concerns. I also think OKC would be nearly unbeatable with Sengun instead of Hartenstein. They have ample ammunition to trade for a Chet replacement. Chet would fit better on this team than Sengun and would help, but not cure, our defense or KD and FVV being black holes on offense.
Chet has the benefit of playing on a loaded team . Even then , this year he played 69 games averaging 28.2 mpg He's very untested as a horse . Sengun has been working hard on defense for 3 full seasons now too . Imo he's the better bet to be a longterm top 15-20 player
I mean Sengun was an all star and couldn't even lead his team against a depleted Lakers team so what are we really talking about here?
No. As much as I criticize Sengun, he’s a superior one on one player. No one is doubling Chet Holmgren. And Holmgren’s defense is overrated
The point was, objectively you’re way too generous to Chet in the Chet vs Alpi comparison. After last season neither appear to be centerpieces, but one is already paid like it, and the other had back injury issues (now this is MY bias offsetting yours).
Outside of the Knicks, almost nobody really beat the Spurs more than once in a 7 game series this past season, that is the naked truth, they are not easily figured out either, just needs tons of data.
I think Sengun has the better career than Chet. I think both would garner a better return for their teams if traded elsewhere. I’m ok with trading Sengun, but it has to give us a shot at a young stud without a lot of physical question marks. Hell, Jabari may have a better career than Chet. He almost certainly will have a longer one.
