I wouldn't even do Jabari for Chet, that 25% of cap max is terrible, and Jabari is on a great contract. Ever since he started, I've been unimpressed with Chet's coordination and how often he gets blocked at the rim. Plus he's due to get injured again soon...

I think I would do it just because Chet is such a fantastic fit with Amen or Sengun. He's exactly the archetype of player that we need if we're pinning our hopes on one of those guys taking a big leap, however low the odds are. Since it seems like that's the direction we're going, we need to find a 7 footer who can play switchable defense, protect the rim, and shoot the ball, which describes Chet to the T. If Jabari were a better shotblocker I would agree with you, but unfortunately he's the kind of 6'11" that plays more like 6'9" than 7'1". (Neutral wingspan, doesn't have great hops.)

I agree Chet's contract is rough, but that's just what it costs to get a guy with his size and skillset, unfortunately. The one big wild card is the injury risk, I can see that as an argument against trading for him.

Chet actually plays defense and can shoot much better than Alpi.

    No, ONLY because of contract.

If it was a straight swap then yeah, Chet is the better player despite him being Wemby's (Insert word here) he plays well against everyone else. You just hope you have to dodge Wemby in the playoffs every year or hope he finally decides to fight back.

Sengun's contract is better and thus more tradeable.

Amen and Tari would be absolute terrors with Chet protecting the rim behind them. Also, the double big lineup would be much more functional with a shooter as the second big.

The guy is only 24, and NBA champion, All-NBA 3rd team, All-NBA defense.

Fair assessment, although Thunder are going to figure out Wemby anyways, with so many data points left by the Knicks, it is hard not to find any bread crumbs there.... also we know now Harper, Vassell, Champagnie are the real assassins, culprits.

    • Chet has to figure out a much faster release on his shots, move nimbler, become a better playmaker, tighten his handles as well as possible.

    • And if possible add 15 pounds of muscle, that always helps.

Chet Holmgren injury history and thinking about trading for him is a bad idea.

Jabari Smith is showing he can add muscle and more weight than Chet Holmgren.

Basketball-wise, yes. Chet is better and would fit very well with the Rockets. But contract and health is a huge concern.

    Absolutely not.

Chet has the injury history already, makes big money, and I don't like his game.
Even with SGA, Presti & Daigs would maximize Alperen.

Most importantly, Sengun needs to be dealt for the right young player(s) and picks.
    And, this isn't it.

So, you make this swap and then watch the offense become even more dependent upon 38-year-old ISO’s?

Chet isn’t creating his own offense.

This move, by itself, doesn’t make us any better. And we eat that wretched contract.

This would need to be a follow-up move to a much larger move that completely transforms the offense, because otherwise…what’s the point?

I’d pull the trigger. I think he’s slowly going to get stronger and smarter on both ends. He’s already really good, just had one bad series. High effort player.

Lesser scorer than Sengun but a way better rim protector. All 4 other starters would get a boost defensively.

Offensively Chet plays outside so it unclogs the paint. Amen and Durant will feast. Sheppard will find drives easier to finish.

I still like Sengun slightly more as a player but the fit is so much better with Chet. I’d be happy with either of them in a draft.

Exactly. Dealing Sengun is fine, but who you deal him for matters. It's unfortunate that our fans are so vocal on the hatred of our best young player. It seems to me that it's lowering potential trade value. If nothing else, that's a good reason to at least stay neutral instead of blasting all the flaws Sengun has to the world.

By biggest complaint is his complaining about missed fouls instead of running back on defense.
