I like Alpi more and think that he would be a better centerpiece than Chet... but I'd probably do it... just bc I think Chet is a better fit with more schemes than Alpi...
This is why it might work, Amen/Chet might be greater than Amen/Alpi. Chet’s contract is bigger so that gives pause, also there is a chance Alpi takes a leap from 3.
Hell yes, Chet fits better with the rest of the team - and would provide defense at the rim and a lob threat. DD
Chet is useless without a playmaker. He showed everybody that in Game 7. He can't generate his own offense at all. Doesn't work for this team. https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/tra...1&SeasonType=Playoffs&SeasonType=Playoffs We were last in assists per game for the playoffs and you want to trade our best passer for a play finisher?
I know many are clamoring for a stretch 5 - but for me, the most important factor for a center is as a rim protector... If Alpi could develop an outside shot and be a stretch 4 - great, but his defense leaves too much to be desired from a contending center imo.... If I had to win w a crappy team, I'd prefer Alpi's offense at the rim... but if u r looking to build a contender, then I think Chet is a better building block...
I like Alpi better and he’s cheaper. And the issue I’ve always had with Chet is health. He’s missed 1.5 of 4 seasons. Availability is too much of a concern.
Well they are facing severe roster issues with their ability to pay their players, this would save them a ton of $$$ DD
Chet only makes about 8 mill more per year on average until Sengun expires (and probably tries to get a bigger contract). They can dump Kenrich or Joe and save the same amount of money. Its not a ton of money.
yes. Chet/Wemby/Mobley were all available during Rockets tanking and them ending up with none of them breaks my heart. **** Wemby, let Chet get his revenge in Rockets red. i'd prefer to have Chet and Sengun as the front court but that's another story for another day (**** you Chris Haynes).
I think OKC would do this deal only if Jabari is in the deal. Sengun and Smith are on good contracts and it saves OKC money. Chet fits with Amen and Reed. Sengun would thrive in OKC with shooters and with Shai and JW OKC: Sengun, Smith, Capela Rockets: Chet, Hartenstein
The have 5 FRP in the next 2 years and need to pay Jalen Williams - they are up against it financially. DD
If Presti wanted him, OKC would have let Sengün go......simple as that. I think it is more personality wise, would not say he is controversial but his blatant whining does not fit their style.
I’d for sure rather have Chet than Sengun I don’t want Chet on his max contract tho if they were making similar salary, I’d be driving Sengun to the airport like Fast & Furious
