FVV was part of the original plan heading into the offseason that Vegas and national NBA media / NBA podcastry put us into the bottom of the contender tier..... so what would FVV be saving exactly if he had not been out for the season? We were never the betting favorites to win it all but maybe we get to the WCF. I can tell you are just trying to disparage FVV and play gotcha instead of use your critical thinking. I would imagine on some level.... you understand that if a teams primary playmaker is out for the season there is a very low probability the backup and third string will be able to keep par, much less in the playoffs.
No, I am not trying to disparage FVV. I am trying to question you that you seem to think FVV is a much better player than Rollins and Jerome, almost like a franchise player who can carry us deep into the playoffs. I think most reasonable "critical thinking" people would put those players at about the same level.
At his peak, he was arguably better than those guys by a moderate margin; he was an all-star in Toronto, after all. The problem is that he was playing well below that level even before he got hurt, and is likely to be worse still another year later following major surgery. I think the odds are unfortunately pretty high that he's barely a rotation-caliber player next season, if at all. Which is a major problem if we're going into next season with our ownership, front office, and coaching staff all trying to compete.
There shouldn't be any debate that FVV on a different level than Ty Jerome..... FVV is still overall better than Rollins if you believe EPM is a good measure. Rollins is the better scorer but not the better playmaker, rebounder, and defender. Rollins was never available for the Rockets so it's really a moot point. We are talking more about players like Ty Jerome and Conley.
The entire thesis was that FVV would supplemental. He was playing outside of his role last season. Green would still be here if he can shoot/score consistently as the idea was for him to be the 4th quarter closer (or Sengun or another young core player) and not have it be FVV bailing us out.
This team needs a real point guard so bad that they think it was all fred. Reality is just like Thibs, Ime has no offense so no matter how many talented players he has if he doesnt have a really good point guard to create an offense his team is gonna look bad in the playoffs and will under perform. He tries to mask this by over playing his best players and running them into the ground and wondering why they are so tired or always injured in the playoffs. So we either need to get rid of Ime or get a really good point guard. I'd prefer both.
The problem is the contract. 2026-2027: $49,500,000 2027-2028: $53,460,000 2028-2029: $57,420,000 2029-2030: $61,380,000 You can't combine Tari into a deal because he has to be a sign-and-trade. So the first problem you encounter is matching salaries. FVV + Adams + DFS gets you there I guess, if you really want to do it. Fox can handle the ball and create advantages in a way nobody else on this roster really can. But he is not a good shooter and he is not worth that kind of money. Honestly, his contract is the only thing holding San Antonio back right now from building an absolute juggernaut. I would not like to bail them out from that. The only way I might consider it would be if they gave us a huge haul of draft picks in order to get off of his deal. In that case, sure, they can have the above package. But I would want like three FRPs or something close to that.
dude you are in dreamland. You are talking about a Fred that doesn’t exist. Fred’s last good season was 3 yrs ago. Now he’s 3 yrs older and coming off an ACL. Why do u pretend Fred is still a top point guard. I just don’t understand this delusion. Were u impressed with his last healthy season where he played 60 games, shot 37% from the field and 34% from 3? But he’s gonna be better coming off ACL surgery as an older player?
I would easily do that deal. Fox Amen KD Jabari Sengun Now that's a solid starting lineup that doesn't have an obvious weakness. He would totally elevate the rest of the team just by simply being a competent point guard that can shoot and get to the rim.
Have to consider the aprons and the problems they create. You're already hovering around the first apron just with that starting group + minimum salaries filling out the rest of the roster. Somebody would have to go. I also still don't think that starting lineup has enough shooting / floor spacing. Again, I would do it, but only if we're getting a haul of draft picks back. No reason to give the Spurs a helping hand out of their bad decision otherwise.
I agree he would elevate the team simply because this team needs a point guard badly. At this point any competent point guard will do. Question is, is he too expensive? I might rather have Lamelo or Ja. I know peopel thin k Ja is a joke but I think if you get him out of that environment in Memphis it might do him some good.
With the playoffs, yes. His 3 pt% was down based on a couple of slumps early in the season, but was average to above average most of the season afterwards. When performance early doesn't match your narrative like Tari shooting hot to start the season, you ignore the early season data as soon as he hits a slump. When performance early matches your narrative, like FVV's poor shooting hot start in 24-25, you always include the early season slump. For regular season and playoffs combined, his 3pt% was 36% on high volume. Mostly, I am expecting a bad year coming back from a major injury. Though, if FVV comes back healthy, the Rockets will play better with FVV than without, and I expect FVV haters not to give any credit to FVV.
Trading Jabari to the Spurs would be awesome. If they were to play Jabari for 30 minutes they would get significantly slower. Reed Sheppard could play, We could put Reed on Jabari and have him stay close to him at the 3 point line, If they want to change their offense to Jabari post up mid range turnarounds, it’d be a win. Might be our best shot at catching up to them.
Dude, you have proven you are far too emotional to discuss FVV.... FVV has never been a top point guard so why are you lying through your teeth to make a poor argument?
