I like the Wade signing, while he has really been down lately - he has been a good hitter at the big league level before, and if nothing else, he draws walks, and that is more than some of the other options do. Also, he can be a solid pinch hitter that will not get himself out.

I was really surprised he didn’t get a big league deal. Hell he’s already put up $2M worth of value for the Astros in 4 games. Really hope he’s not hurt. Not only is he cheap and seems like a good clubhouse guy, and he is a lefty OF, but also his contact over power profile is exactly what the Astros need to balance and extend their lineup.

    I hope he's not hurt badly .

A sprain or strain is ok (obviously not ideal)

Love what he brings so far .

Cristian Javier struck out three over three perfect innings in his first rehab appearance.

Javier somehow returning to his peak form is one of the few possibilities left on the board that would materially change my outlook on this team.

I just don't understand this. These are supposed to be professional athletes in fantastic condition. They could never be football players, my god.

Football players don't have non-contact injuries?

Football players don't take pre-game injections (riding the T-Train) to let them play through injuries?

    ETA:
I still remember seeing a documentary (late 1980s?) where they interviewed recently retired football players, all of whom had permanent injuries ... some could barely walk. Football and medical treatments have evolved since then but I suspect that all football players who have had a long career have some permanent injuries of some sort.

    Baseball, not so much.

Baseball is skill game where one of the skills is to be able to post. Some speed and strenght will help. You can try to put football players through 162 and see how these idiots can concentrate. They would be like extended paraolympics yips fest but with the fastest and the strongest fkrs you can find.

If you want toughness and giving everything for team not caring for own stats and real love between teammates then it's hockey. Culture is letting team doctor needle your hurt body part with anything that will help you compete.

Teng RP/SP splits after last night - xwOBA: .263/.343. As a SP Teng has a worse xWOBA than Burrows.

They are similar in that they are both guys with excellent breaking balls but ineffective FB and walk issues. For both guys I think Vazquez’s quote on Burrows is good insight: they need to lead with their breaking ball and throw it for strikes and go from there.

    Let me guess

    “we’re really close”

    “the guys are fighting hard”

    “I think we’re in a great position”

Judging Dana by what he says in public is certainly one way to do things.

It's almost like yall have never heard a pro sports coach/exec talk to the media before.

I just don't think Teng is meant to throw 6 innings or even attempt it. Maybe we should pair him up with Javier when he comes back and have them both throw 3-4 innings each.
