I think these H-Town fans are delusional. Ive heard it all this weekend, from trading himnfor an unproven Rookie in next yrs draft to this idea of Baker Mayfield even letting Mills take over....CRAZY

Last 7 games, including the playoffs
    - Mayfield:
    127 comp 203 att, 62.6%,
    1,328 yards, 6.5 avg
    9 TD, 8 INT, 79.8 RATING

    - Stroud:
    131 comp 225 att, 58.2%
    1,525 yards, 6.8 avg
    10 TDS, 7 INT, 80.7 RATING

Even with CJ'S epic playoffs disaster, the final games of the season he beat Baker in every passing stat except completion %. Baker only makes sense as a "cheaper contract" candidate

True. But Baker was an MVP candidate the prior to that.
CJ was a middle of the road QB.
Baker is better than CJ. Neither deserve top tier money

This is CHAOS SEASON where stories intended to cause discord and hurt feelings are generated for click-bait. This is because fictional stories are rewarded far more than truth in social media under current monetization rules.

It's a trap with alluring bait.

They keep trying to sow anger into a situation where there is mutual interest in delaying contract extension talks until the off season. If things go well, Houston will be glad to give CJ a top contract that can't be justified based on last season's playoff performance. Both know there are reasons and think the corrections this season will show it.

CJ is under contract for 2 more seasons after the option was picked up. Players are rewarded after outstanding seasons. I have no doubt everyone will prefer the contract he can get at the end of the season in comparison the the one he can get now.

I am of the belief the Texans want to reward players who exceed previous deals and contracts, but the cold truth is you have to EARN it and if I am being honest, as much as I love CJ he hasn't earned it yet so the extension is the right move. I am not a fan of everyone complimenting CJ on his new "approach", because for every time I hear, "he looks great, best shape I have ever seen him", means that the past 3 years he wasn't in shape to the point of earning a max contract. Every time I hear, "he seems prepared and ready to go", means he wasn't prepared and ready to go the past 3 years. I know everyone feels the need to prop CJ up after what happened last year, but let the young man show us, I don't need to hear it, but I understand why they have to do it, but after awhile its like , come on, enough talk, I need to see it to believe it.........................and dam I am READY. To many mediocre QB`s getting too much of the cap space, I think it's fine to have to prove it.

It's easy to blame the young man for not being the best he can be. He did well enough 1st year, relaxed a bit too much but the team didn't do him any favors with the OL situation. You can blame him for not being better than he can be. But again, that's the past. Whatever "shape" he is now will not matter. When the season starts, CJ needs to be one of the reasons the team wins the game, not lose it. That's the bottom line. Now if they lose and CJ did all he can, then that's life. But for sure, none of this 4 int business.....
