all the spurs needed is a big second half ft disparity and for wemby not to get thrown out to win by 4!

I hope so man. The attempts were mostly legit besides potential tech's and flagrants.

Spurs too often seem too lucky and good. This next decade could be complete torture.

A few quick observations from the game:

- Spurs just played better that game. The fact it was close is a testament to the Knicks hitting many prayer shots that went in - props to them for having the confidence to take and make those shots but their defense allowed a lot of good looks from San Antonio that didn't go in. I for one appreciated that a team of young players in their first Finals never appeared to be rattled. That team is going to be here A LOT in the coming years if Wemby stays healthy.

- the officiating was really bad. How many times do you see refs miss a call play after play after play after play in a Finals game? Honestly it made the game super choppy in the 4th and ultimately helped San Antonio because Wemby could stay fresh throughout the 4th with all the game stoppage. The Spurs struggle without him on the floor so it was advantage SA....but seriously - come on, refs!

- The refs also missed the Wemby shove and while it should have been a tech, but I do think people are making out to be a lot more malicious than it was. Wemby is the NBA's tallest player and Brunson is one of the shortest - the mechanics of Brunson trying to screen Wemby are always going to look like that because defenders are always trying to shove their way around the screen - it's just when there is a 2.5ft difference between them, Wemby's shoving reach is substantially weaker at his heigh if he reaches down below Brunson's shoulders. You used to see this with Shaq too - when one player is so much bigger than the next, the hits are definitely harder/more brutal even if they are normal edgy basketball plays other players try to get away with all game.

 

Spurs have had a huge FT disparity in their favor in the 2nd halves of this series so far. All the whistles killing the flow of the game and making the game choppy last night kept the Knicks from going on any sort of run. Spurs got into the bonus early in both 3rd and 4th quarters so every ticky tack or slight mistake was whistled for free throws for the Spurs and they cashed in making almost all of them. At one point Spurs had attempted 22 free throws to the Knicks 4 in the 2nd half. Knicks did not get the homecourt whistle the Spurs got in both their games in San Antonio. Aside from that, Jalen Brunson HAS to play better. He's missing wide open shots and all those unforced turnovers killed them.

 

aside from Wemby tossing Brunson like a rag doll, the other egregious play was when Harper went onto the court during live play causing the Spurs to have 6 players on the court and it didn’t result in a tech

Knicks fans were throwing trash at Pacers fans during last years ECF…literal bags of trash from trash cans off the street
