Wow some late inning drama I wish I would have seen (seems like we play better on the road again). Love Jake but that "sac fly" should have been crushed, middle middle change up.
I think it was close. He put his knee down just before catching the ball. He was definitely not blocking beforehand. So maybe they ruled the throw took him there.
Honestly even more on the catcher than the 2b , the throw got there in time , I feel. I like the sneak by altuve
Nah, really wasn’t that close. He wasn’t blocking the plate initially and the throw absolutely took him there. Even the Angels broadcast was saying it was definitely clean immediately after seeing the replay before they completed the review. Really was a perfect throw by Brice and execution by Price.
Amuslingly, according to FanGraphs, Jake was the Astros top clutch hitter last year, and top 5 this year. Major League Leaderboards - 2025 - Batting | FanGraphs Baseball Yordan is dead last for the team this year. Yanier was the worst in 2025 and 2nd worst this year. edit: in Yordan's case this year, it may be in part because in clutch situations, people don't pitch to him and a walk might be worse than he'd normally do so it automatically drags his clutch stats down.
Jake was actually good at the plate last year. He also doesn't ground into double plays, which helps.
Spaghetti was served, and Astros win without Yordan having to go Superman. Behind the scenes insight of how Altuve scored.
I know we face one of their better pitchers tonight, but it would be great to explode. Yordan 5 RBIs. Walker 2 RBIs. Altuve 5 hits (LOL)
Unfortunate for Wade (and maybe Astros too) but Loperfido has shown above average big league hitter skills in his small sample size. The defense is constant and he can all OF positions. If Dubon can get routine CF duty, so can Lope if necessary.
This could mostly be Jake's magical 9th-hole prowess last year. He hasn't batted there much at all this season, if ever -- plus he's struggling this year. Espada 9. Meyers
