When it's a white-on-black fatality on this BBS it usually involves the police so they typically I get called a bootlicker or some other such nonsense, but it's always the same chorus of racially animated grievance merchants doing it. That is, of course, if I support the police in such circumstances. Which I only do if the evidence proves their innocence. I've been here 20+ years. I know my lived experience better than you do. The guy will go to prison. It's a tragedy that he killed someone else with some degree of intent, but perhaps not to justify a death penalty charge. That said, I cannot imagine being this animated by a single local crime when **gestures wildly at the state of the world** everything else is going on around us. He will go to jail and your expenses will still be through the roof, homes will still be unaffordable, and the long-term trends of your declining wages will persist.

I think the lack of video evidence and the fact that nearly every eye witness was related to the prosecution and not the defense is going to make it very likely he ends up in jail. How long, who knows. We may never really know what/how things transpired, which is a weird feeling in this day and age of 24/7 video everywhere. If it's on the table, my money is on manslaughter. Not sure if a lesser charge is still in play, though.

I, admittedly, haven't followed this case. There's a lot of tragedy in the world, but this one just hasn't been on my radar. I was clumsily replying to the other post who is having a DEFCON 1 meltdown in this thread while the world around us goes to hell. To that point: is the strait open yet?
