I don't think Brown gave anything up to get a young starter with 5 years of control and 1 elite pitch. To me it was a reasonable move and doesn't change my opinion of him. Constantly being unable to get a legitimate outfielder to lengthen the lineup is his biggest failure in my opinion. This team needs an everyday LF or CF who is an 8. Brown has found a dozen guys who are 5s or 6s in the last 2 1/2 seasons.
Meaningless ratings rated by people who are not involved with the Astros system or MLB in any meaningful way.
Smells bit like regular we won the series Joe mental punt on getaway day. Boys are thinking all the fun things in LA. Can't even fault the lineup, guy like Wade has 3 hits so he's no saviour yet. Hopefully Abreu be hitting that 98mph and throwing strikes so we are still in for late comeback.
Depends on who you ask and how you look at it. Neither are in the top 100 or project to ever make an all star team. Either could have a flukey season or two of good luck and surprise. I will be shocked if either can manage multiple 2 WAR seasons.
Something about the way Burrows is always scowling even when he gives up crooked numbers which happens often pisses me off. Resting b**** face.
When Brown comes back it will be an interesting call on the rotation. They made a not insignificant investment in Burrows and he just can't seem to gain any traction.
Burrows has an option year left...when Brown comes back I don't see it as being very interesting or surprising at all. Let him work in out in AAA
In the mlb.com articles states they were top two prospects. Regardless, Burrows is absolutely horrible and not what the Astros thought they were getting (I assume, cause I don’t understand what they saw other than a cheap contract controlled player). This has been a bad move thus far. Not saying he can’t turn it around, but it would be nice if he’d start it ASAP.
They will go to a 6 man rotation. When Javier comes back, then I suspect something will be done about Burrows unless something changes.
Here's a thought to save our bullpen. We are 3-10 (after today) when Burrows starts. Since he's nothing more than an innings eater we should just have him go 7 innings minimum every start no matter what
