Disgusting, a pineapple by itself fresh in its skin is sweet and tart already. Then you add in the Kool aid, why?

It's all viral marketing from Big Kool-Aid.

    Oh Yeah!

I'm not doing this, but is it really that much different from putting chamoy or tajin on things?

These are the same people who were licking ice cream containers and eating tide pods...I wouldn't waste too much time wondering "why?"

I used to feel the same about Capri Sun until I learned how to open them properly.

Based on what Im reading this is soaking them in prepaired Kool Aid with all the added sugar.

If you grow up eating nothing but synthetically created ultra-processed foods, you get a taste for them. If all you drink is Kool Aid with extra sugar, natural flavors and more complex flavors like pineapple which mix sour, and sweet, and natural flavors of the pineapple can seem like too much and not overwhelingly sweet enough.

I don't want to sound MAHA, but it's a testament to how industrial processed food has hijacked our taste buds by building synthetically "pure' one-note sweet flavors with no complexity.

I feel the same way about all the coffee-flavor milkshakes people down every day at Starbucks. Your great grandparents would disown you told them you were getting them coffee and gave them one of those foofy Starbucks drinks.

One of my favorite "fruit salad" side dishes for bbqs and such is:

    Peel & core a pineapple

You can grill it for a bit, while in rings, if you want some caramelization (also makes is sweeter)

    Cut it into bite-sized pieces

Toss in a bowl with a good bit of diced mint and a ~T of sugar (depends on how sweet you want it and how sweet the pineapple is)

Let sit in a covered bowl for a bit, stir every 5 mins or so.

It's delicious (and I don't really even like pineapple all that much)

    No Kool-Aid needed.
