If you're saying, What an idiot?.... I think that fits you more so. You should have ended that with an exclamation point, rather than a question mark....You IDIOT!

And with a name like HEMINGWAY, Im sure your late relative ,Ernest Hemingway, would agree that you need to go back to school and learn how to write, before you try and insult someone.

Either way I see you're happy with the status quo....most IDIOTS are.

This is a business - look at the revenue sheets. Houston is a top 7 team in the NBA in terms of Valuation(valued at nearly $6 billion) and has the 6th highest Operating Income of all North American sports orgs with $191mil. Here is the list of teams who make more money than Houston:

    Dallas Cowboys: $629 mil
    GS Warriors: $409 mil
    LA Rams: $244 mil
    New England Patriots: $222 mil
    Philadelphia 76ers: $204 mil
    Atlanta Hawks: $203 mil
    Houston Rockets: $191 mil

If they weren't in touch with their fans, they wouldn't be literally one of the most valuable and profitable franchises in all of North America. You can complain that you don't like the direction of the team or the color of the new jerseys but the reality is this is a business that is excelling at selling to it's fanbase. If they were out of touch - that would not be the case. People still watch the games, buy the merch, talk about the team on message boards like this one. If the fans are unhappy, they sure aren't showing it with their pocket books(hint, hint).

You are correct! It is a business and I never said that it wasn't. But if you don’t cater to the people who are supporting your business, you will soon see a decline in that business.....JUST LOOK AT THE ASTROS ATTENDANCE.

Im a fan and I have been a fan for over 30yrs. I have been a season ticket holder on and off during that time period, as well. And like anybody who spends their money.....YOU EXPECT SOMETHING IN RETURN.

And as far as the new uniforms, I like them! I think they are AWESOME but after 30yrs, I have been through the New Uniform phase several times, so it doesn't excite me as much. And the nostalgia of 94' and 95' is beginning to fade.

Its time to hire a GM who is basketball savvy and basketball knowledgeable. A GM who is willing to work with Udoka but who is also willing to let him know when he is wrong, that he needs to modernize his offensive philosophy. And finally a GM who is willing to meet with the local media and give the fans a sense of direction of where the team is headed....SIMPLE

Ah yes... how could I forget the hype around MALICK BADIANE. I heard he's almost ready for the NBA.

I mis-typed a question mark instead of an exclamation point. What is idiotic is you claiming the Spurs have been rebuilding for 4 years and the Rockets 8. I’m not at all happy with the status quo, but am realistic enough to know that Stone, Ime, FVV, and in all likelihood Durant are coming back next year. You can’t just make up history.

Glad they’re not in tune with Clutchfans armchair GM’s and Reed Sheppard fanatics.

So you can make a mistake but others can't is what you’re saying? Lol

And as I recall, I don't think the Spurs tried to tank until they after traded Dejounte Murray in 2022. Once they knew the fix was in for them to get Wemby, they traded Murray to get more high draft picks.

I mean, even Clutch doesn’t engage much with us anymore and him, Roosh, Will etc are the ones who could even remotely tell them what fans want. And honestly, the amount of crazy mock-ups that fans here loved as a rebrand, I’m glad they don’t listen to us. People b****ed and they got you your mustard. They want our money and they know we will spend enough for Tilly and Patrick to get some new boats.

He's the kind of rim running, shot blocking presence this team needs!

Threads like this are hilarious. You really think the maniacs that post on this board represent the typical “fan?”

You never know. Where else do Rocket fans go to get up to date news about the franchise and express their thoughts?

If I do and I can afford tickets, Im sure there are many others

so this is actually something I’ve been pondering. Obviously the average clutchfans poster doesn’t represent the “average” fan. I don’t have my finger on the pulse of the average rockets fan because I haven’t lived in Houston in two decades, despite visiting every yr. I suspect the average fan is nowhere near as informed. I suspect the average fan is not as down on the org, although the average fans I know definitely are. But I am curious for those of you in Houston that have friends who are less intense in their fandom: what do they think about the team and the org…generally?

    Curious as well.

IMO the weakness of the wider Rockets media ecosystem is a big part of the challenge. Compared to most teams, there are very few quality Rockets-centered media perspectives out there via any medium: podcast / twitter / youtube / substack / radio etc. What is out there is mostly shallow Gen Z content farming, or checked out personalities with an axe to grind from the Morey era, or people who lack the depth or genuine fan attachment to engage with the complexity of the modern NBA.

Ben Dubose and Clutch are basically it, as far as quality points of view that are genuinely Rockets fans.

    It's pretty grim.

I went to a home playoff game this year. The stadium didn't really fill up until about 5 - 10 minutes after tipoff. Mind you, this was a playoff game, so the arena was packed with the biggest Rockets fans.

The average Rockets fan is passionate, but I don't think they care about things like GM press conferences, offseason workout videos, etc. I actually think they do care more about things like new jerseys. I expect to see mustard yellow all over Houston this year.
