Blum - there aint a MFthing to believe in this team other than flukey streaks and fluke come-from-behind wins once a pumpkin/orange harvest moon per season.
After 1 game, colin price does not look like he belong. Nor did Cesar Salazar but that's beside the point.
The Jake Meyers 6-4-3 to end it. Bad baseball team. Lose both the Milwaukee and Pittsburgh series. Impressive.
If you’re going to only have one elite hitter, you need to have 6-7 above average hitters. Houston has 1 elite hitter and 4-5 above average hitters (2 of whom are hurt). The top half of their lineup is not good enough to make up for how weak the bottom half is. Every series loss pushes them closer to selling. If Crane forces Brown to trade prospects to invest in the short term with Houston 7-8+ games out of the division he his royally stupid.
Not really that surprising considering both of those teams are better than us. Joe had a huge hand in blowing a couple of the games though so there’s that. Offense is going to be inconsistent when you’re pulling guys off the street to bat 5th.
The league continues to mooch off Astros health... plus Daikin isn't exactly home field advantage. Record is 1-3 last 4 home series, which includes a gentleman's sweep. Astros avoided the sweep yesterday, lowered their team ERA today, and Josh didn't throw multi-inning either day.... so at least there's that.
Careful now, being honest about our situation isn't gonna be popular here. I'm told we have a potentially dominant young pitching staff so Yordan and the pips should be plenty enough to win a WS.
Hard to say anything about on field decisions or performances when lineup after Paredes looked like that. Couple of thoughts still. - I don't mind bringing up any breathing body to C position. Price have some power and 45/136 BB/K ratio last year. That does't look good but Diaz has about 5x ratio so it's improvement if he gives some power. - Why is LaMonte Wade Jr here is a puzzle. That's a move you make with injuries and couple games back bringing vet to position in dire need and to maybe mostly young clubhouse to keep it professional. But team knows (as we saw) that season is over (team wise) and we have no need at 1B where he also was bad def. with Giants. Even if he would get on unprobable hot streak nobody's gonna pay for him come deadline and playing him in OF is pure insanity. We could be figuring out who plays OF 2027 or raising some young player with upside value for deadline who might a valuable throw in to finalize decent return selling star. Wade also lost 2,5mph (huge drop in 1 season) bat speed 2024-2025 and fell off the cliff 2025. This Wade move stinks and signals desperation for this moment rather than thinking about even near future. - Abreu. After serving the homer for Lowe in previous game Espada said "he threw perfect slider there". Kinda yarring to hear. I do agree that can't keep him on roster and not use him so for God's sake DFA him already. If this is desperate attempt to get him going little bit to have trade value the ship has sailed on that. Other AL team in about same position just optioned pitcher with better ERA and they are still paying him 19m/2029. So maybe we can look past that Abreu's 6m and do the right thing. If he has 5y service time protection then just release him. Somebody will take a flyer so all good and in other org he won't have the baggage of trying to be dominating Abreu of the old.
Astros would have to go 53-45 in their finale 98 games to finish at .500 which wins nothing with Seattle in first place and a better team, plus the tie breaker.
