100% agreed. It was a blip in the history of this franchise that doesn't need a permanent callback. You don't see the Pistons incorporating teal into their uniforms now or the Cavs wearing light blue (aside from the awful annual Nike jerseys, but that's a different story).

I'm glad we have the ketchup/mustard back, just wish they would've put "Houston" on the front as in my old pic. I actually don't mind the pinstripes, because they're subtle and not in your face like the old blue unis. I'm still digesting the patch, as a retired military guy I should like it, but it's just not as cool as I would have preferred for this component.

My marketing education says we could have done better, but they're not bad. Probably as solid B/C grade, but I'm an old guy and not the target market for buying this stuff so maybe it's a homerun for the younger folks.

little late but threw this together in chat gpt. Wanted to replace the R with the dunkstronaut but ChatGPT messed it up. Honestly wish we could get rid of the R.

Edit: nm how do you attach photos on here lol

I'm happy with these, best unis we've had since they first ditched red and yellow. Modernized version of an old classic is fine, even the Lakers and Celtics have touched things up over the years. I think when we see these on tv they will look even more closer to the old ketchup and mustard than we expect.

A white jersey that says Astros, a grey jersey that says Houston. The same hat we wore in the 80's and the same circle logo that our entire division has. It's a rebrand that could have been done in 5 minutes by anybody. It was extremely lazy, but as long as they brought back the H star and orange people were gonna be thrilled (me included) so it's all they needed to do.

The best jerseys are those that never lose their identity (e.g., Knicks, Celtics, Bulls, Lakers). I'm for subtle change or tweaks to the design, but this is not subtle. They are trying to blend in all eras of Rockets jersey design into one. They are doing too much. Keep it simple. And please go back to the 90s basketball inside the comet logo and finally put the Yao Ming Rocket logo to rest.

Not even original. I always think of the hawks when I see these mustard yellow. We need something original. Throw some blue or something

Drayton did the gold-grey bullshit in 1994 (talk about a horrible rebranding). That lasted all the way until 2000 when he switched to the "blood and mud".

One of the first and best things Crane did was fix the ******* uni's. Navy, white, grey, orange are the Astros colors.

Just like ketchup and mustard are the Rockets colors. Some stuff should never change.

These look fantastic to me. 1000x better than the previous ones, which were the worst in the history of the franchise

    Fake News

    Hawks added yellow in 72

Rockets yellow since they began in 68, red and yellow together in 71

I’m good with the new threads as long as our young core of Alpi, Reed, Amen, Jabari and Tari are rocking them. Pretty decent starting 5 if they can take steps forward instead of back.

    Few background tidbits...

    — The main thing they wanted to do was bring back the yellow. They feel like the R has a lot of brand equity, but fans consistently wanted the ketchup and mustard. This is an attempt at bridging those concepts.

    — The "global logo" is, by NBA/Nike design parameters, basic. The idea is that you need the name in there when marketing to an audience that may not be as familiar. The primary and secondary are what you'll primarily see around these parts, and that's where there is more flexibility and creativity allowed. Within those "global" parameters, putting the logo and team name inside a space patch + yellow perimeter isn't bad, IMO.

    — They needed to make the Dunkstronaut an official logo so that they can do more with it. In terms of court design (not announced today, but it's coming), merchandise, uniform placement, etc., it was strictly limited to City Edition things the last three years. Beyond the yellow, this was the other big motivation for the change — to overcome NBA/Nike restrictions, it needed to be part of the official package.

    — The City Edition program is getting phased out, but there is one more "vault year" where teams will wear a previous edition. Because of the obvious Space City theme, expect us to pick the 2019/20 NASA-inspired ones. That said, the emphasis will be on the main three uniforms, sounds like we'll wear City as little as possible. (The NBA/Nike has a minimum threshold for each uniform.)

    — Seeing them in person, the one thing I didn't like (at first glance) was the white numbers on the black uniforms. To me, it's a little jarring, particularly when juxtaposed against the red "Houston." I've been told that a lot of this came down to design parameters — ideally, the numbers would've been gray/silver similar to the pinstriping, but Nike said that wasn't doable from a production standpoint. Not sure why. And red/yellow numbers on black would be too difficult for refs/announcers to pick out in real-time. So, white it is.

    — Some people will undoubtedly ask "what about the 2020-21 jerseys that had red numbering on black." Basically, Nike/the NBA will give you special privileges if it's a one-time release. Similar to 2019-20, when the Rockets had the true Classic throwbacks, those were permissible because it was a special edition, one-season-only thing. There are more restrictive rules when it comes to your primary jerseys for many years.

    — Was told the players reacted very positively to them, KD especially. The promo shoot took place late in the regular season.

    — Friday's pop-up event is at GRB because TC and the surrounding area is under major construction for the next year or so, as part of renovations for the Comets and the broader GRB expansion project. So, the side the team shop is on (main La Branch entrance) isn't even really accessible at the moment. That said, they do expect it to be open by October for the 2026-27 season.

I like them. I think you are all whiners. lol

Only thing I don't LOVE is the pinstripes, but they are subtle, and I do appreciate that they tried to come up with a design that honors each era, while at the same time emphasizing the ketchup and mustard championship look that I think is really the iconic Houston Rockets look. I think these are pretty great actually.
