He and Harden take turns freezing the other out, they don't work well together at all.

I guess for me it would depend on what assets they want for KD. I'm not giving up much considering Mitchell's contract. I might consider something like 1 pick + 1 pick swap depending on which picks those are. I think we could recoup that in a later trade if it doesn't work out with Mitchell.

I'd agree there are probably better options. If I'm in charge of the Rockets' front office, I'm looking hard at being the third team in a deal that gets us something we really need.

Stupid stupid stupid…..worst post I’ve seen in a long time. If we are EVER offered Spider for 38 year old KD we better grab it and run before Cleveland changes their mind. He’s 8 YEARS YOUNGER!!! That’s 8 more seasons of 28 ppg. Are you crazy???

I’d do KD and the 27 Phx and 29 Phx pics for him. I’d still try to find a stretch center or a good 26 draft pick for Sengun and picks. Amen and Mitchell would be a very good backcourt with a stretch center. Easier said than done.

Serious question: Why are you the way you are?

If Cleveland trades Mitchell, KD will not be in the deal. With Mitchell, the Rockets would lean into trying to win with a bunch of good players, but without a Top 5 player. My guess would be it would be FVV and JSJ (or something with Sengun, but this woudl likely be a weird multi-team thing) for the salaries to work, a couple of FRPs, and a couple of FRP swaps.

I don't think he makes sense if this were the case. We'd have to give up a big draft haul if it's FVV and Jabari, and it would be for a tiny window with KD, after which we wouldn't have the assets to rebuild or add onto Mitchell.

Maybe if it's Sengun and the front office is just out on building around him as a cornerstone. But that's very risky for a player like Mitchell who isn't quite good enough to be a #1A. Could backfire.

Would you trade Durant for Mitchell straight up?

We do need another bad defender.

Absolutely, in that case. Just a straight upgrade in terms of how long we can be competitive

I'd rather not trade for any of these big names on huge contracts - they cripple the cap almost immediately.

If I'm trading Sengun, I want multiple draft picks from someone in the bottom 10 teams in the standings.

I'd honestly rather play the draft game than take a guy who isn't good enough to carry a team in the playoffs or who is deeply flawed otherwise.

Everyone on the roster would be on the trade block for picks in 2028 and 2029.

No, don't want the contract - I prefer the deals we've discussed from Miami, Detroit, GSW, Portland and Charlotte where we return multiple smaller contracts and draft picks, not sending out draft picks.

We don't have a #1, we're unlikely to trade for that guy, and a dude on a supermax who isn't that guy just complicates everything and definitely isn't worth paying.

And lets not forget that Mitchell is a terrible defender.

The only way I'm taking on a supermax that another team has buyers remorse on is if they are giving me draft assets to rent my cap space.

The Rockets would still have Mitchell, Durant, Amen, Sengun, Reed, and Tari. I'd guess they would trade one or two of Amen, Sengun, and Reed to make roster fit better.

JSJ probably has more trade value than Durant. If you are concerned with giving up too much for Mitchell with FVV and JSJ, you definitely should feel the same way if it were Durant instead. Probably about the same place in terms of draft capital, even if the Rockets get nothing for Durant when his contract runs out except no JSJ.

The draft picks, if we treat them like Amen (can't be be depended on to win in his 1st 4 seasons), would not be ready 30-31 at the earliest. Amen and Sengun are win now assets, even if they are also win later assets. If the Rockets are not willing to consolidate for Mitchell, Amen, and Sengun, both probably should be traded, as depending on them without giving them help is likely to backfire.

I would not follow this path, but it makes sense to me. You either stay open for a trade for someone like Mitchell, or you go hard-core rebuild.

The trade KD for a pittance without going for a rebuild just does not make sense to me.

Why would CLE want JSJ when they have Mobley and Allen?

A deal i would consider is some type of Alpy for Allen and Mitchell. Rockets can add.

    Amen
    Mitchell
    Durant
    Jabari
    Allen

I think is a rock solid lineup

I could get behind this. I still like Reed, but I'd be willing to add him and multiple firsts to make a trade like this happen.

Tilman ain't rebuilding anytime soon after our tankjob. Some of y'all are going to have to accept that he is going to push Stone (or whatever GM) for the Rockets to compete every year for the foreseeable future.

If we get Mitchell, we are definitely going to keep KD ( assuming he still wants to play here) otherwise I think the Rockets wouldn't pursue Mitchell. I think we would have to give up less by going for Mitchell vs Brown/Giannis. Feels like we wouldn't need to toss in our best pick if we were including Sengun as the main piece.
