I have a son that is a big Craft beer guy & he is coming into town for a week.

Any Craft Beer that's Houston Brewed or even a Good Texas one? He showed me a few in Colorado and I'd like to show him the best we have here.

Not much of a Craft Beer guy, other than stuff like Celis White, which I don't think exists anymore.

    There’s a lot; that’s for sure.

I lost my taste for St Arnold’s, but I’d still take a visitor to the brewery. Was “craft” before the craft movement.

And their 32nd Anniversay activities are June 5th weekend, if that matches his visit

New Magnolia Brewery is a hit

And Eureka Heights Brewery is nearby Magnolia, so you could do both together

Karbach for German-style and I think it is nation-wide now. Anheuser-Busch bought them. Although, I actually doubt it’s like true German craft beers. I lived there, so I’m a German beer snob.

It’s the weirdest thing. I’ve lost my taste for beer almost completely. It was the only thing I drank for decades. Now I prefer sipping high quality tequila or just a seltzer.

That said, 8th Wonder Brewery is pretty good.

Did you see the Eighth Wonder dispute with their landlord, it was on the news last week,

I worked on Karbach St when Karbach first started in 2011.

It's very cool that St Arnold's moved into that HISD food service warehouse. That's a nice old red brick Houston building

I'm the same...just with bourbon. With the exception of the times I'm able to get my hands on Spotted Cow or Moon Man from New Glarus in Wisconsin.

But, also close to St. Arnolds is Bad Astronaut which is fun on the weekends.

The management/ownership there is a hot mess. We put on a music show there in 2024 and our planner was fired by the venue for signing us to the price that she was told to quote.

    But for day-to-day, it's a cool brewery/bar.

Our go-to in Kingwood is Back Pew Brewing for their Black Habit or Blue Testament. Live music and food trucks every Saturday. DECA Beer Company or Megaton Brewery if it's too hot outside.

My kid's band is playing there on 6/13!

Besides the ones already mentioned, I would consider heading up north to check out B-52, Lone Pint and maybe Southern Star or something. I still think Lone Pint Yellow Rose is one of the better Texas beers.

Anyone remember the 1st microbrewery in Houston — Village Brewery on Dunstan?

I recall in there first month they’d charge 25 cents / pint at happy hour just to illustrate how low micro costs were for brewing their own beer.

The 90's? There was a mad rush to be the "first microbrewery in Houston." As a result, all of them came out tasting like crap. I recall a dozen on the Richmond Strip & in The Village.

Great Heights has some good beers and it is across the street from another brewery walking stick so that is a must hit considering how easy it will be for y'all.

Sad day. Southern Star is closing. Go visit now because they are dropping like flies.

That’s a shame. Millennials drove the microbrew craze 20 years ago and now they’re married with kids and bills in a terrible economy.
