We definitely downgraded at the GM spot since he left, that's obvious. However, I don't think he did a good job in Philly, so maybe he's lost his fastball or there was owner intervention over there. He did build by far the best and most complete Rockets team since the championship teams in 2018, so that counts for something.
Lol. Nice trying to save face Tilman. I seem to remember Daryl making an excuse to get out of dodge when he saw the writing on the wall about how incompetent the new owner was. Just like the CEO did. Just like the head coach did. Just like the second best player in franchise history did. Not long into the Tilman family's ownership.
What I'd like is for one of you geniuses to dig up some dirt on Presti and tell him that you'll keep it on lockdown if he comes to Houston.
I'm not that smart, but I'm pretty sure Daryl knows the mathematical equation that links some number of cheesesteaks [n] to the formation of chins [c] over a given period of time [t].
Daryl Morey: "As only one team out of 30 gets to win, you cannot play it safe" FYI... I'm not sure if a Morey/Rockets reunion is a good idea, but I would definitely take him over Stone!!! There I said it... ....... ....... .......
I wouldn’t say he lost his “fastball” it’s that the rest of the league learned his “fastball” so pretty much everyone has it in their arsenal. When his approach was new and the rest of the league was still thinking about the game like it was the 90s, it set him apart and made him one of the best in the league at the time.
By the end of his tenure here, probably 90% of you wanted him out and celebrated his departure. And now you want him back. Same with JVG. You're a fickle bunch. I keep waiting for the inevitable "wE NeEd To BrInG bAcK SiLaS!!!" thread.
Not better at the metrics/numbers game, much better on the "players want to play for him" front though I think, and I'd put money on that. Morey had his skills, he also had massive flaws in the way he never considered the humans involved and only saw the numbers and treated them accordingly. It's very telling that he even fell out with his own Golden Goose in the end. Morey was a trailblazer, a revolutionary and his legacy is cemented on the league, but I'm not sure he brings much to the table in 2026 that every team doesn't already have now they all have analytics baked in to the standard operating procedures of running a basketball team in present day.
That 2018 rockets team should've won a championship and we almost took out the best team the warriors ever assembled. Is it morey fault we missed 20 3s in row? Paul getting injured? Gordon/Harden/Ariza being 2/34 from 3 gives me nightmares to this day...
