Heard Dave and Ben talk about potentially getting back into the draft. Its a deep draft but some top end talent. What would be preferable, the #3 pick or the #6 *and* the #11 pick?

In this scenario we trade assets (Sengun + 2027 pick) for the #6 and KD + poo poo platter for #11. (Could then trade both #6 and #11 for #3)

#3, I'm a big believer in Cam Boozer and I think he might end up being the best player from this draft class.

How are we getting the #3 pick exactly?

What on this roster has that sort of value?

Trading Sengun plus picks for 6 would be stupid.

There's no scenario where the Rockets are able to trade up to 3.

In this draft, I'd rather have #6 and #11 as it would yield Kingston.

    Sengun, alone, is worth #6.
But, it's KD that I'd look to move in the deal for #6.
I know many think KD has less value than he does.
At most, we'd have to attach a mediocre to late first.

Trade Durant + whatever for either #10 or #11 (Bucks, Warriors).

    Trade Brooklyn - Sengun + their pick + a protected 1st for #6.

Trade both of those for #3.

Right. Any team would look to fleece the Rockets for a pick that high so it would probably take Sengun, Amen, and picks to get it done.

I can maybe see the KD for a late lotto, not sure on the Brooklyn one unless they just really love Sengun for some reason and see him as a potential #1 option. If I were them I would not want to trade out of this draft class to get into 2027's, which is a lot weaker.

The issue for Brooklyn is that they don't control their 27 pick. And even though it's a "weaker" draft, you no longer have to tank to get the highest odds. So giving them a player that will elevate their floor AND control of that pick AND they also can try to be good is a win/win/win for them. At #6 you likely dont get the cream of the crop or Keaton Wagler (likely goes #5 if Clippers pick there). The Nets do not need another PG and that's all that's left at that spot.

Rockets could match salaries with Claxton and someone else as well. The only reason this works is because you're dealing with the Nets specifically because you control their pick. Sengun just doesn't fit here anymore and needs a team built around him, which they could definitely do there. There are definitely ways of getting into the Top 4 of this draft if the Rockets wanted to.

Also I would be targeting Boozer specifically. I don't like anyone else in the Top 5 for the Rockets.

I found a trade that may work for #3.

Amen + Reed + Sengun + Multiple 1s in exchange for #3 and Morant.

I would say no if I was Stone.

Take Amen out and I would consider it.

Way too risky to sell the farm for the 3rd pick…. Especially when someone like Sengun or Amen already has a good chance of being better or around the same type of player.

This draft class is built different, especially in the top 4. Outside the top 4, I definitely don't give up Amen, with Sengun it's more questionable. Inside the top 4? Those guys have a better chance at becoming #1 options than our players, I think. They are what they are... we have the tape, we've seen what they've done in college. A guy like Cam Boozer is very likely to be a better scorer than anybody we have.

But, I think it's probably a moot point... I don't think Memphis trades away #3. I think they just take Boozer and be happy with that.

Built different? Well that's a pretty subjective handwaving away valid concerns about real NBA player development. I certainly understand you think these things and want to believe these things... but there's also a real chance that #3 isn't better than Sengun or Amen.
