The big success story of trading down was Danny Ainge doing it with Fultz for Tatum.

Wizards GM, shouldn't forget the person asking on the other side (Jazz) to trade up is Ainge and his son.

My advice to the Wiz GM is to go with your own board. The more you talk to Ainge the more likely you're going to be taken for a ride.

Don't be greedy. Even in the course of trade talks, Ainge will warp your thinking. Will have little idea in whatever Jazz promises is the truth or reverse psychology. The guy on the other end of phone is smarter and more cunning.

I could obviously be wrong, but I just don’t see it. Flemings? They list him at 6’4 when he’s really barely over 6’2 with a 6’3 wingspan. Wagler? Thin as a rail - 6’5 and 188. I worry he’ll be beat up in the NBA. Ament? His efficiency was pretty terrible in college. Just feels like quite the drop off from the top 4.

A lot of people overhyping this draft lol. I cant honestly see any class topping 2025 in terms of impact yet some people were claiming Flagg gonna go 4rth in this class.

Where all the Nets truthers at?!?! Even with tanking their ass off they just got 6th. If they didnt tank they prob get 12 or something.

With the new rules changes Rockets just got multiple lotto picks and swaps in 2027 and 2029.

Kingston Flemings and Darius Acuff are both very good prospects and would go 2-3 in a lot of drafts. Burries and Wagler also would be in the top 5 of some drafts.

Really there are like 6 guys that would go in the top 3 of a lot of drafts.... and a couple of others that would be top 5 in some drafts.

Tell that to the Pelicans.... they did not have their draft pick and were atrocious down the stretch. There is a real good chance that the Nets would be in about the same spot.

When they are on the clock they will likely get to pick between Flemings and Brown or possibly Acuff.

So still plenty of talent there - all projected as pretty damn good.

There is no idea of what the Suns pick will do -- It isn't very likely, but it is possible it ends up a number 2-3 pick in the 2027 draft. The class isn't projected to be that bad, but sometimes classes surprise.

It’s all projections….. it’s such a crap shot it’s amazing after everything we’ve seen, people still hype up the draft.

Flemings and Acuff 2-3 in most drafts? IDK….that just seems pretty generous.

Where did someone say Flagg wouldn't go 1st in this draft? He would be 1st by a country mile.

Pretty normal to list the height with shoes. And I'm a little less worried about guys being thin after seeing what SGA has managed as a defensive player.

I do think there's a dropoff as you get farther down, but for me this class is like if you took an average-ish draft class then just stuck four great prospects on top of it. Which is kind of ridiculous when you think about it.

Could someone kind of summarize for me how the changes to the lottery system will affect us over the next few seasons, and these picks that are owed to us?

We don't know what the changes to the lottery system are - they vote on them in a couple of weeks.

the best you can hope for in terms of odds for the #1 picks are are now 8%. And to get that your team has to finish between 4-10th worst record. Teams 1-3 and 10-14 get a 5% chance I believe.

so we need Brooklyn and PHX to finish in that 4-10 range next yr, but an 8% chance isn’t much. Brooklyn could be really bad and finish bottom 3 and the Suns could be good and finish late lotto or play-in. In those instances those picks would have a 5% chance. So we probably lost real value on the Brooklyn pick. We may have added slight value to the Suns pick. I’d say overall it’s a slight net loss in value for our 2027 picks. But it’s probably an increase in value for our 2029 picks, if u thought there was a decent chance of those teams being good by then. I think it’s probably a marginal gain in value for 2029.

I think most nba GMs would rather have the #6 in this draft than the Nets and Suns picks next yr, especially because it’s a much weaker draft and the lotto odds are now pretty flat.

    That’s how I see it.

It really seems like a leap to start this new lottery system after one season of discussion.

You're just going off a "what-if" graphic of one proposal that may come true. Those percentages are meaningless until the vote.

One proposal is the overwhelming favorite according to "insiders", but they have yet to finalize or vote on it.

especially since we've been trading draft picks for years out now. I joked with my son the other day that at 52, I don't love seeing trades about who we might get to draft in 2029 (if they're also asking me to buy tickets lol)

Thank you guys for giving me the explanation.

in this moment if I had to choose between having the number six pick or the three draft picks in the future in hand, I actually would go ahead and take the three picks.

it would be different of course if it had landed in the top couple pics. But at this point, I’m willing to roll the dice that the net gain is better than number six.

grateful that things went our way, but we’ve still had some bad luck in the lottery so it’s just kind of a mid-level feeling.
