I don't disagree, just think that other GM's will believe they have us bent over a barrel ... and the return will be underwhelming.

I didn't list Philly because those contracts are so terrible ... Maybe Maxey but is he worth $40m-$43m-$46m over the next 3 seasons - one more than KD's contract. Can't see them giving up Maxey and this years draft pick.
The Rockets would have to add salary to take back Embiid ($57m), George could be done straight up but those players would pretty much immediately make you a 2Apron team and Embiid's contract goes thru 2029/30. I wouldn't be taking either of those back even if they attached this years #1 (17?).

Jimmy Butler ($56.8m), same as Embiid, you'd have to add more salary and be a 2nd apron team, but only for one year. They will likely have the 11th pick ... Can you do that deal? Would they do that deal?

Knicks - who would they prefer to dump on us? For KAT the Rockets have to add salary and have an extra year of him compared to KD - I'd say no. The Anunoby & Bridges contracts are just too long going into 29-30, I'd want multiple picks. Don't really see a match here.

Miami does seem to make some sense, especially if Wiggins opts in and they use him as the salary instead of Herro, just not sure they throw in #13 or make Ware available at all. It is Riley afterall ....

I hadn't considered the Denver option - I might do that Johnson & Braun deal - with the idea of moving Braun elsewhere. Could you get both and #26 (Henri Veesaar would be my choice there)?

    Great list!!

Here is my take on a couple of them.

    Minnesota:
They want to win and probably feel they are close.
Gobert could be routed to a 3rd team, and we take Naz [perhaps send Capela to Minny in the deal?] - we would also acquire assets [or split them with Minny] from the 3rd team.

NYK for Kat is an option. I feel like they want to move on from him. Questionable defensive fit if we stick with a KAT/ Alpy frontcourt...

Both those moves would be pathways to building around Giannis [stretch big]. I kind of think that if we pursue Giannis, we are likely to keep KD

The Suns may be interested. ;)

but seriously, Minny, New York and Miami are gonna be the realistic destinations.

I wonder about Cleveland and Boston?

I called it a while ago, I think the deal is KD back to Golden State for Jimmy's expiring + #11 + maybe an extra pick swap.

Obviously makes a ton of sense for both us and GSW.

Just comes down to KD's desire, which IMO will be there, for a multitude of reasons. I've seen whispers. A lot has changed since he shut down the trade back there 15 months ago.

I would be very pleased with that, even without a pick. Jimmy fills a huge gap in playmaking, leadership, and big wing defense.

How about Detroit? God knows they need shooters badly? If the Pistons get bounced again in the first round, I can see it as trading partners. No Ausar, please. Lol

There's a pretty big gap in their salaries, $43.9 Vs $56.8. That's $1,704,724 over the 125%+100k rule. The Rockets would have to add another salary, they only have 1 minimum salary deal on the books, JD Davison, if they pick up the option, otherwise, Capela is the lowest salary on their books.
After acquiring Butler they'd be just ~$31.8m short of the 1A and $44.8m from the 2A with just 9 players under contract.

Then you have that 11th pick from GSW to pay, 120% of rookie scale is ~$5.095m leaving you ~$26.7m to the 1A.

Tari is pending and still need 3 more players on minimum deals after that.
That might embolden teams to make him an offer in RFA and make it difficult to keep him and make it hard to force a S&T as anything above the T-MLE would hard cap both teams and the NT-MLE is probably in play ($15,049,000)

I'd probably do that deal for the 11th pick but the repeater tax looms the in either of the following two seasons. They were taxpayers this year.
Need to find a way to dump salary otherwise .... DFS? Adams? Or make them take one of those guys back instead of a minimum or Capela.

It could get really messy .... and another year of a large chunk of the cap sitting on the sidelines.

My head hurts thinking about all that ....

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when people are talking about trading with Miami AND aren't asking for at least 2 of following players : Ware / Jovic / Kasparas / Vasquez. Like all 4 would be great on the Rockets...

Miami is the perfect trade partner. See if we can include Eason sign and trade to sweeten the deal. Ware in particular would be the perfect fit for our current woes and is the person we need to be targeting specifically. We'd have a lot length in our front court to hide the trio of Reed/Fred/Herro. A Fred/Herro backcourt off the bench would be absolutely roast second units in the NBA.

Ware + Jabari gives us a lot of length to throw at Wemby which is someone we will need to plan against for the next decade.

Lastly, we will still have some future draft capital to find another 3 along the way. Our starting 5 remains very young and we can offer extensions as both Fred & Herro's salary comes off the books in the coming seasons.

    Reed
    Amen
    Jabari
    Sengun
    Ware
    ----
    Fred
    Herro
    Adams
    Jovic
    DFS

    ----------------------

Miami staring lineup looks like : Mitchell, Powell, Vasquez, Durant, Bam.. that's a very good contending team in the East with Eason/Kasparas/Laarson off the bench.

Here is the total trade : Wiggins get re-routed to a rando team.

Jimmy and #11 would be good. I see Jimmy as just an expiring given he’s coming off an ACL at such an old age. Do u think he could be rerouted for an additional asset?

Not that complicated. DFS's $13M expiring would be included and routed to a third team along with a couple SRP's from GSW.

KD making $43M vs. Jimmy's $57M is a big feature of the trade - it would save GSW the money that would allow them to use the full NTMLE (on Lebron? hmm).

Maybe there's a chance Jimmy comes back and shows something such that another team (or us) sees him as having value, but I think that's very unlikely. Or also possible his bird rights are useful for S&T reasons next summer. But far more likely he'd just be a dead salary expiring we're eating, then we'd open up cap space next summer when it expires.

for sure Detroit would be interested but they just don’t have what we want.

The only problem is I don’t think Miami will trade Ware for Durant. If you want Ware it will need to include Sengun. Send KD to GSW for Butler and frp. Send Sengun to Miami for Ware, Wiggins and a 1-2 frps or find a partner to accomplish that scenario. Next year run with Amen, FVV, Butler/Wiggins, Jabari, Ware. Bench Wiggins, Tari?, Adams, frp from GSW, Reed, Capella. For 27/28 dump Butler, FVV, Adams and add 3 27 frps plus FA’s. If you can sign Ayo this off-season and let Tari go that would be great, but I think the ship has sailed.

If Mitchell is really available you could send KD and 2-3 frps (save the Nets pick) for Mitchell. Still find a way to send Sengun out for Ware, Wiggins and frp or two. Dump FVV and Adams if you can. Sign Ayo.
    Mitchell, Reed
    Amen, Ayo
    Wiggins, Tari
    Jabari, Tari
    Ware, Capella

Here’s a fresh take. I live in Portland. And they have new ownership. This new guy is a real douche, but he’s pushing to win now big time. Portland badly needs shooting. In a vacuum I wouldn’t see Joe Cronin trading for KD, but with Dame and Jrue and Deni, they may squint and see a potential contender. They have a ton of young talented players. I don’t see KD wanting to go to Portland, but we do have the best herbs in the country so you never know ;)

I wouldn find it absolutely shocking they wouldn't give up Ware in a deal that gets them both Durant and Eason. I mean Ware is good but he also averaged 11 ppg this season..

If Phili would offer Maxey, I would throw in a couple of 2-3 frp’s (not Nets). Just don’t think they will trade Maxey. You take the GSW deal of Butler and this year’s pick if offered, but doubt they are giving it up for KD. I’d take OG for Durant in a second. No to KAT. MIami won’t trade Ware for KD, but might for Sengun.

Wiggins > Tari. Ware is playing behind Adeyemo. He is a young stretch five rim protector on his rookie deal and those guys don’t come cheap.

There building a team on vets, and Youth, But would KD be too much for them to pass up?, with dame coming back.
Grant, Henderson, Clingon would be a steal of a trade for KD. Gives us that much needed bench. Win win for both teams.
