    San Antonio Spurs Victor Wembanyama has won the 2025-26 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

    He is the youngest player in league history to win the award.

    I'm not a Wemby fan. But why do people dismiss his defensive power because of his length? A player's physical attributes are part of what make him valuable. If Shaq wasn't so big and strong, he wouldn't even have a chance to play in the NBA, let alone one of the best.

    Yeah the unanimous part doesn't do anything for me. Same when it did with Curry. In case of DPOY there's still individuals who were miles ahead of Wemby yet didn't win unanimously and it indeed downplays the good defense guys like Chet play too.

    Blasphemy is not even highest at that, dude has played 64 regular season games (65 eligible) and they had to come up with the NBA Cup Final which does not count towards the Standings but somehow counts as eligible towards Awards.......for him to be eligible for awards.

    He barely made it, played the fewest minutes of a lot of other finalists. One good thing was the Knicks of all teams won it ....
