Nicely said, we shall see about the 2027 Draft, it was rumored to be significantly weaker and not as deep as 2026. Also what are the moves, the Class of 2027 still need years to develop. I do think Rafael is doing more than okay was because he spent like 25 years in this organization, more so than Morey, and he should know this franchise like the backside of his hand. Hope we see some fresh blood #Soon.
It was a one hit wonder and Morey hasnt even managed to replicate it on the Sixers. You realise Morey drafted Baby Melo over Kawhi and Capela over Jokic? What happened to "identifying talent at that level"?
"Mediocre" would be average at best. This FO tanked for just 3 yrs and now the best team outside OKC who didnt luck into a generational talent like a Jokic or got gifted on by NBA like the Spurs. This is on top of mitigating the mess caused by the former GM who left a bare cupboard and promised future picks to OKC. If you dont think Rox FO are an elite front office you jist dont understand the intricacies of managing an NBA team. They arent as good as OKC or Celtics, but they are among the better ones in the eyes of guys who understand the salary cap like Bobby Marks.
Even if you argue the Nets would have traded Bridges Simmons contract expired this offseason so they would have both Bridges and Simmons capspace to build a decent team. They certainly wouldnt use all 5 picks in the draft they would use some of those to get help like Ayo Dosunmu or Coby White for example. Maybe they even get NAW as a Bridges replacement since they have all that capspace.
Yay !!! Draft a pg that might lead your team in 2028-29 Season? Never know what the future may hold with these young guys. Grow together maybe in couple years they could top okc.???? Everyone around 26-27 years old , KD and FVv gone... You think Stone keeps this rebuild or throws it away for a cheap chance of fail to get a quick ring? If tillman gets giannis here , with no Sengun, then fails, it will be let down. Think about a rockets team trying to get into the play-IN every year with Amen, and giannis bailing out of his contract to be UF. Would be bad Karma, and thats when you lose half of city fans lol Would be good time for KD to retire as well lol Few more years of experience maybe?
The rockets core are incredibly young, Sengun and Amen are only 23. Unfortunately OKC has done such a crazy job winning a ring in the next 15 yrs might be difficult. I am just glad Rox have positioned themselves to be one of those contenders now and in the future. Giannis is always injured not worth getting him.
We have not put ourselves in a position to win, we still don't have a top 10 player in his prime on our team, the rockers will never win a championship we need to rebuild again and get a franchise changing player.
I hate to point this out (because I do not like him as a person and I would not bet on him like what Stone had) but KPJ has morphed into a good basketball player. (I cannot believe I’m saying this but it’s sadly true. )
Absolutely. But in the mean time, would you rather have a winning team with a punchers chance of knocking off OKC / SA or be stuck in the Silas era of suck? Not making a move to replace FVV at the deadline also plays into this - no assets wasted on rentals or marginal upgrades (that also relegate Reed Shepard to the bench), rather Stone still has those assets to acquire a star. We weren't as fortunate as OKC and SA or even Detroit when it comes to lottery luck, Stone was left picking thru the best of the rest. The record reflects that - good but not great. The Durant trade didn't shorten the window at all either, in fact it opened it to now and later instead of just later and the cost was essentially a bust in Jalen Green, the #10 pick in a terrible draft and Dillon Brooks. If I had anything to complain about here, it's that Jalen was actually a pretty decent secondary ball handler and despite Durant being the superior shooter by far, the ball handling wasn't replaced - again the signing of DFS instead of a guard looks like the main mistake here in terms of roster construction (I more or less blame Ime for this one, Stone gave him what he wanted and it backfired). They went all in with salary while not mortgaging future assets or flexibility which is a tightrope that's tough to walk. I think without the injury to FVV the conversation is much different - we're still looking for that star and probably an upgrade to FVV himself but in a much better position record wise - the optics are different not having this point guard by committee bullsh!t with everyone playing out of position or in roles they aren't suited for. - not because FVV is so great but because the skillset is so important to success. Lets see what the offseason brings - OKC is going to have a hard time keeping that team together and the Spurs are going to run into cap issues too.
What could he have done to change your position? Being honest, the answer to that is nothing that could have actually happened. Drafting Wemby, Chet or Cade wasn't an option.
Drafted better? Had a uniform philosophy concerning the type of team they would build? . Prioritize player development instead of just rolling the ball out there for 3 years and surrounding the young players with guys like Wood and KPJ? Not be so adverse to bringing on Executive President of Basketball Operations because he was thin skinned? If you want a list of things he has done well, I’ll give it to you. He has done something’s well and not others… which is why I think he has been “okay”.
Good player? He is what he was in his 2nd Year in Rocket Red. He can do it all but he is not a good defensive player, he is doing a lot of things well but not elite....... He can give u a lot of stats but can he lead or win a lot of games? The league has its fair share of empty players and not enough of winning players.
Kennard, Kyle Anderson or grand theft avocado, one of those should be giving us bench minutes. Oh well
He is +1.5 EPM (86th) and has been an impactful role player for the bucks all season long which is even more impressive in the context of their miserable season.
Ryan Rollins (PG) had a better season and he is benefitting from that as well playing alongside Rollins, I watched him, believe me.... He is not the punk that he was beating a girl up .....and that is the best, but I would not bet on it long term.
This is how imbalanced this roster is.....Durant goes out......Amen and Sengün bricking.....no OFFENSE at all.
