Mitchell is not good enough to be the best player on a championship team. If he was, then the Cavs would have been way better in the Playoffs instead of disappointing every year
I agree, but I wonder if he might be good enough to be #1A or #1B on a balanced team like the Celtics championship team. I don't see a huge amount of separation between him and Tatum or Brown. I guess it sets up the question of whether Amen or Sengun (if we can even get him without giving one of them up) can become that level a #1B type of player. And also the same question we've been dealing with of how to fix the roster construction mismatches we have
Another Booker prolly a tad more clutch. I watched Mitchell on the Jazz and he was going against Jamal and Jokic in the infamous Bubble.
I like Donovan. Not interested if it’s super max or something ridiculous. KD idea isn’t bad, if that turns south. Fred and Tari or Jabari not uninteresting but not my 1st instinct on how to shape the team. I don’t like the he’s not a best player on a championship team angle. We’re more setup to get it done collectively like the 24’ Celtics than to have a single heliocentric MVP candidate. Ultimately would need Mitchell to want to come here, give some leverage, and be more interested in winning than maximizing his money. Also Ime and Stone would need to end the obsession with size over speed and skill and join in on modern baseball. Long story short, I doubt it.
I think that Mitchell is a very good player, but he isn't all that great defensively--- and having him with Sengun and Sheppard would be a defensive disaster. Maybe if the Rockets have a massive change this off season, it would work... but I don't see that happening.
To me Reed Sheppard, Jabari Smith Jr, and Tari Eason should play around an equally small and minimal role in the thinking behind big macro landscape decisions such as this
I'm going to buy an Athlon NBA Season Preview mag over the summer - will let you know if I find anything out on this guy.
Mitchell would be interesting. Would probably make Sengun and Reed available to trade. Still would need a stretch center if Amen is kept..
One of the worst superstars in the league. You are almost guaranteed to not be a serious contender if you have him on your team. Avoid undersized, high volume scorers who doesn't make others better.
Always seem to come up short when it counts for sone reason. So many years in the playoffs he’s come up short. He’s not a championship level player in my opinion
24% in 3pt & 74% FT vs Pacers in 2025 playoffs (lost series) 28% 3pt & 72%FT vs Knicks 2023 playoffs (lost series) 20% 3pt vs Mavs 2022 playoffs (lost series) 25% 3pt & 72% FT vs Hou 2019 playoffs (lost series)
not about who’s better individually. About what pieces fit together and collectively how they play. Mitchell can put up 40 but is streaky and seems to often flounder in the playoffs and significant moments.
Its fits now that Harden doing his usual **** in the playoffs, there a perfect match together for few years just to go numb every year.
Harden sign the vets to win? btw That trade would be rejected in heart beat. Also doesnt even come close to Don Salary. lmao.
