I've come to the conclusion that we as a people have the collective memory of a group of fruit flies. I used to believe things like this could happen - that pulling a bait and switch on the entire country and then being the most corrupt person in the office ever would have consequences. In truth I now think it was just misplaced hope in humanity on my part. A year after he's out of office people will be reminiscing about "the good old days" of Trump. We are just collectively that incapable of learning and remembering or doing anything but living in the moment, completely disconnected from the past and the future.
Short form videos like TikTok sure as hell isn't helping...probably could say the same for most social media.
Push back a bit here. His first term has some of “the good old days” economically. Adults kept him mostly in check then from concentration camp, nuclear war with NK, and such.
It was trendy in 2024 to be a trump supporter amongst 18-22 yr olds however I noticed that it has since become taboo to support Trump nowadays in those circles, social media or otherwise. Remember that this generation maybe didn't even vote in the 2020 election, and had no idea what Trump did from 2016-2020. I do feel that he has lost a generation of kids now realizing that they graduated into a s*** economy, things are getting expensive, and he didn't do a damn thing to help them out.
As a parent of a Gen-Z kid, I can say they are and have been well aware of Trump. You aren't wrong about the voting trends in 2024 but the majority still voted Harris. The man-o-sphere had a big influence on breh voting in 2024 but as you noted, that has evaporated for the most part.
these fckers are so cooked this country keeps voting for republican governance every 4-8 years and then quickly realizes that republicans are sh*t for almost every facet of daily life just to eventually forget again and we repeat the same cycle
