Rondo was 2.1 in his second season, and 4.0 in his third. Not bad for someone who was a fourth option on his team.
I like EPM. Unfortunately, I think even it has trouble with Reed as he's a weird player. Reed typically plays alongside many defensive players. I think EPM's overall view of Reed is correct, but has his offense too low and his defense too high. I think over time, EPM will change its stance so that Reed gets more credit offensively and less defensively as he plays with different players.
I just don't know what the best option is. I think Sengun has been playing hurt most of the year which has made his defense worse. When Tari plays well, the Amen, Tari, JSJ, Durant, Sengun line has been great. Reed lineups have been weird. Sometimes, he seems to play better with worse players. To me, this likely indicates that he's a better offensive player than most of the starters, but when he plays with them, worse offensive players are getting more chances to make plays while Reed wrecks the defense. I think some of that is likely chemistry. Rockets have been trying to use more ball movement lately, which plays into Reed's strengths. The Rockets do not have an easy roster to make work.
They have the absolutely PERFECT roster to run the Princeton offense if they hire the right coach. I would love to see what prime Adleman could do with this roster but as it is Mike Malone is the best available. Maybe they could convince Adleman to be a part time consultant? Of course if they keep Ime, who knows nothing about offense, then you are 100% correct about roster.
Tari and Bari hitting their 3’s is critical for this team. Reed is a given at this point to hit his 3’s most night. Starters should be dictated by matchups the rest of the season. Against Phili, I think they should go Josh or Tari in the starting lineup if Embid is out. Should have done that against the Suns and it almost cost them the game.
I don't think Udoka is really clueless about offense. He just has some blinders that obstruct his view on the offensive side. I think he is too obsessed with individuals playing the right way and neglects how the team works together the right way. He is a technician, not a tactician. I've been saying that we have all the ingredients to be a good offensive team. We just don't have someone to put these ingredients together in a cogent way. I too want to see how Adelman could use a guy like Sengun with shooters like Durant, Reed, and Jabari, and a cutter like Amen.
I think Tari is really the only good option for the 5th player with Amen, JSJ, Durant, and Sengun if the goal is to win a specific game. Okogie has been better than Reed with those 4, but most of his value with those 4 was very early in the season. The only reason to start Reed with those 4 would be to develop chemistry and hope the players gel. At this point, I don't have much faith that they will gel by the playoffs. Maybe, if Reed had started in November, they would have gelled by now.
All you need to do is look at the record and how teams were collapsing on Durant and senguin when we barely 500 for nearly 20 games people are living in some insane echo chamber of their “eye tests”
I missed most of the game, but didn’t see him much in the 4th. Why was he benched while the team was collapsing?
Because ime goes back to his ways even after figuring out what works. I’ll go crazy if we play kd Sengun iso ball in the playoffs.
100% shooting in the first half. Then not playing him for another 2 quarters out there cold so @J.R. Can post some gay ass meme
Sengun was in the game. I really like Reed, but either he or Sengun needs to get better at defense or become so good at offense that it doesn't matter.
