Amen Thompson is the Rockets' REAL franchise player

Amen is the 1st option.

 

The first option to do what?

 

In a literal sense. Our 1st option is to get a stop, get a rebound or live ball turn over and get it to Amen (one of the fastest guys in the league at getting the ball up the court) to go down and get something before the defense is set.

When that doesn’t work we turn to our 2nd and 3rd options and get the half court offense going.

 

He's certainly not the first option in the half court. In transition, sure, if he happens to be in the right place at the right time... but that's about it on offense.

Please watch the whole game, if you only look up from your phone when we’re in a half court offense, then immediately look away to go back to arguing with people on the internet, the cycle will never end.

 

If anyone considers Evan Mobley a likelier All NBA Candidate than Amen Thompson you can just throw their opinion out the window. I won't even get into a lot of other names on that list.

 

You're trying to make it seem like a tiny percentage of the game is the majority and it's kind of funny.

This season the Rockets have been in transition on 16% of possessions vs operating against set defenses in the half court on 83% of possessions.

Saying Amen is the "first option" when he happens to be in the right place at the right time 16% of the time, every time should be an intentional joke... yet here we are.

 

Evan Mobley was already named 2nd team All-NBA last year, the same year he won Defensive Player of the Year, when he was the same age that Amen is right now. All due respect, but when you come with takes like this, it's hard to take anything you post seriously.

You think Evan Mobley is a better player than Amen Thompson?

I know you hate Amen for whatever reason but Evan Mobley is not on his level. He's a good interior defender and good at little else. The fact that you took a weird cherry picked list with Lauri Markannen and Cedric Coward on it and gave it credence makes anything you say on the subject unserious.

 

First of all, it’s not my list - I didn’t create it. But Nate Duncan has a lot more credibility than you.

Second, both ESPN and Ringer rank Mobley way ahead of Amen, but I guess they don’t know anything either.

Regardless Mobley has a higher PER than Amen even in a down year for him. You have no numbers, no support, no case, just your man-crush, and you’re welcome to it.

 

You dont like Amen dude. Its fine. The list is stupid and if you actually believe it then its because you just want to. The idea that a lot of those players are going to make an All NBA Team before Amen Thompson who most of the media absolutely adores is asinine.
