It is not really a new strike zone by the rulebook...

This graphic really only means something if the starters were replaced because they were bad, not due to injury.

If its put there due to injury then its being used as an excuse.

Last year, Framber, Hunter, Javier, and McCullers would have each had 25+ starts if they were healthy. They would have had to be REALLY bad over multiple outings to get taken out of the rotation.

Arrighetti and Blanco were very close to that level of security also. And Wesneski was fine and only lost his spot due to injury.

    Then Walter was amazing.

This graphic makes it seem like they were going through starters because they all sucked.

If anything. This graphic shows just how good Dana Brown has been at adding pitching because nobody has needed more than the 2024-2025 Astros.

The graphic shows stability -- whether from performance or from injury.

There's also a strong correlation in the Astros record along with the stability. Fewer starters, better record.

    Or maybe its:

The Astros suck because their starters keep getting hurt and they need to keep trying out scrubs.

So its not Espada's fault, its not the player's fault, just keep letting it ride.

First part contradicts the "Dana awesome" theory from your first response. I think he's done well overall. Health and bad contracts (mostly Crane and mostly at 1B) have been the biggest detriments the past few seasons IMO.

I don't agree with the first part.

I was projecting the message I think the organization is trying to make.

Truth is, I think its somewhere in the middle.

Dana HAS done a great job of acquiring pitching the past 2+ seasons but he has been underwhelming with position players and his guidance of the medical/return to play system has been malpractice.

What is Dana’s role in the medical/return to play system? Don’t GM’s have to rely on their medical staff, coaching staff, and players for those decisions? It doesn’t seem to me that any GM would have the expertise to know when a player is ready to return.

Yes he does, but he is also responsible for overseeing that group and holding them accountable.

It has been reported that James Click wanted to address that group and discover if changes needed to be made but he was fired before he could implement it. Part of his firing was his betting on Jake Meyers' return from injury based on that group's work/communication. Most of it was him being a jackass.

Dana could have done something after 2024 instead of waiting for it to bite everyone in the ass last year.

This is a game they should win. Don’t have a good read on this team yet - other than they didn’t roll over yet.

Walker looks competitive early. Cam can make contact when he wants to. Altuve is just a ball player- Abreu isn’t a real closer but is a great set up man.

    2 walks & a strikeout the start for Imai. UPDATE: Imai 1st inning: 2 walks, 2 K’s & a ground out on 25 pitches

Imai's not exactly a strike throwing machine

Imai 2 innings: 0 hits, 4 K’s, 41 pitches, 2 walks. Fast ball 96-97 mph, but going more to an 88mph slider
