Maybe I missed something. Why did the Spurs release him? Seemed like a fairly important player for them.

I think Spurs want to develop Castle and are investing in him way more.

It took 3 seasons, but the Spurs finally figured out that a SF who can't shoot is hard to play anywhere, much less PG.

On a related matter, how many turnovers did Amen have last night?

It's amazing how badly the Spurs rebuild was going until they got Wemby.

    Sochan (bust)
Josh Primo - (bust had to cut b/c sex creep)
    Devin Vassell (just ok)

    Then:

    Wemby
    Castle
    Fox
    Harper

Bottom line: Now that they have depth and are actually trying to win each game, Sochan is completely useless to them.

The Knicks signed him for chump change, which shows his value to the league.

The word "versatile", when used to describe players like Sochan, really means "doesn't do anything well".

I love it when entitled jerks like him get a face full of humble pie.

Spurs are going to the finals if Wemby is healthy.

From what I have seen of Sochan, there were likely character issues. Amen seems to portray much higher character/leadership than Sochan. Secondly, Amen is an ELITE defender. I don't know if Sochan had the same mind-set or lateral quickness to defend at the same level. Also Sochan looks like he would do worse on a standardized test than Amen..
