    American white culture?

We cannot even agree on what is white.

150 years ago the Irish and Germans were not considered part of white culture in the USA.

    The Germans were called Huns.

The Irish were considered outside the white culture in the USA as they were Catholic, and claims they genetically were different than whites.

Hell - WASP was considered "American white" up until the 1950's.

Many families would not allow their children to date or socialize with Catholics.

Through the 1960's Italians were not viewed as part of white culture. They were not viewed as European even.

    Poles - Slavs, Hungarians--- Greeks.

Now - many Americans believe that all of these groups are "white".

We are seeing the incorporation of some Hispanic groups into "white".

So when I head the term "White culture" in the USA, I never know what exactly that means.

There is as much difference between a miner in West Virginia and a data analysis in New York - as any two groups of Americans.

Yes. American white culture is heterogeneous. So is American Black culture. That’s the point.

Yes - or there really isn't "American white culture" and there is just "American culture" and pockets of subculture depending on region, age, gender, income and in some cases what generation your family is and if you are black.

Oh, do you feel triggered? Just remember, I am not attacking you personally. If you read the whole post you will realize I am mocking people who use bits and pieces of what someone says to sensationalize it. Your post is just the one I used to highlight this. Now, if it feels that its hitting too close to home, then you are just telling on yourself.

Okay, so your not offended and yet you keep trying to make your case. Got it.

Still trying to figure out the context of that last sentence. I am going to assume you mean that I don't care if someone who does not know me has negative thoughts of me. That is correct.

You can definitely have white culture in America if you have Black culture in America. Or Asian culture etc. That’s the simplest way I can put it.

Like I said, it’s all under the umbrella of American culture. We all have certain similarities and distinct differences in our American culture. Some are multi-cultured. America is multi-cultural.

Telling someone that they don’t have a culture can be viewed as deeply offensive. It’s dehumanizing. It’s one of those slippery slope deals.

Yes - it is a sub-culture perhaps. I don't know how unique it is for white people, since we haven't been able to agree on what being white means in the USA. I would never tell someone that they don't have a culture. Every living person on the planet has a culture. Black people in the USA have a very strong sub culture because they were slaves in the USA and they are distinctly black and have not been as easily accepted by wider US culture.

The culture of being an American is shared by everyone that lives in the USA - and there are distinct subcultures after that.

Many different black cultures, not just one. They are all subcultures and they aren’t always distinct. Some differences are subtle. Slippery slope saying one culture is “stronger” than another.

A black guy from inner city Houston comes from a different culture than say a black guy from the suburbs of Maryland. There are similarities in their black culture but differences too. This is no different than any other race.

Implying that white culture doesn’t exist outside of being a racist redneck is a very ignorant thing to say. Elitist white liberal propaganda. (I’m not saying you are doing that but that’s the general theme on this board).

Yes, most American white culture comes from the many different cultures of Western Europe that, over time, were blended into a more malleable white American culture. However, it isn’t more diluted or diminished than Black American culture is and this is for the same reason.

I really don’t want to go back n forth here as it seems we are pretty close.

I just don’t think it’s very classy or intelligent to imply that someone’s culture was washed away and they are just floating in space like Pluto, stripped of planet status. A big nothing, as Brian Regan would put it. (Finding Brian Regan funny- example of American white culture!)

The black subculture in the USA is stronger, precisely because they are black. Black people have been enslaved and marginalized, and they cannot hide from the color of their skin. That is why it is stronger- it has had to be. Stronger does not mean better or worse.

I never said that white culture doesn't exist outside of being a redneck. I don't know where you got that from. There is no white culture, there are white subcultures - one of which is the elitest WASP families from the New England area. That isn't a culture though - it is a subculture.

I don't really hear many liberals say that there isn't a white subculture, but I have heard liberals say some very stupid things before - so it is possible.

Could you dress like a poor urban black kid and rap that to me?

Don't want us to be miscommunicating here.

As I stated, I wasn’t calling you out. But as for where I got it? Have you not read this thread? (Maybe it was the other thread) I was told that I don’t have a culture and was called white bread or some ****. There was even a picture. Yeah it’s not hard to see who or what I am objecting to.

I guess you disagree with me and you think black culture is a monolith. I guess you think there are no differences, even regionally.
