Extend Schultz and then also take a TE in the third?

    Bernard’s buddy is a bust!

“The Texans may also need a pass-catching tight end on the opposite side of Schultz. While Cade Stover has done his part in the running game, he hasn’t had much success catching the ball.

And he suffered a knee injury in the playoff loss to the Patriots. It won't sideline him for 2026, but it was serious enough that he could miss the chunk of the offseason.

The Texans are hopeful Brevin Jordan can be that pass-catching tight end, but he’s also had two consecutive season-ending surgeries. Houston was thin at tight end this year, and needs more depth there.”

Stroud's haircut was a que that his representation knows he needs to change his image to get that $60M contract. Personally, I'd rather see him in the gym or working with a different QB Tutor instead of a cheesy haircut video.

This offseason will is critical to his future. How he manages it will tell us what kind of QB we really have.

I came up in life with the motto, "That which does not kill you makes you stronger." Hard times builds character in leaders.

Is CJ going to step up and be the leader we need on the offense or will Bernard take over and continue to degrade his performance? This is the key issue for our offseason. We obviously have holes to fill on offense, but answering the question of do we have our QB/Leader makes the other positions secondary. I hope he steps up and becomes our guy, I'm getting too old for another rebuild.

I'm good with most of this, but not excited about extending Schultz. A few folks have pointed out we should sign Charlie Kolar and I like that move better.

Kolar Analysis from Google AI: Charlie Kolar is a 6'6", 250+ lb tight end for the Baltimore Ravens (2022 4th-round pick) known for his elite size, large catch radius, and high football IQ. Originally a receiving-focused TE, Kolar has developed into a reliable, versatile inline blocker while maintaining his ability to exploit zone coverage.

    Key Analysis Highlights:
    • Receiving Skills: Possesses excellent hands and uses his frame to secure contested catches. He is adept at finding soft spots in zone coverage.
    • Blocking Development: While initially considered a weakness due to average strength, Kolar has worked to become a dependable blocker in Baltimore's system.
    • Athleticism & Role: Lacks elite speed or "juice" to be a vertical threat, but operates effectively as a possession receiver.
    • Career Trajectory: As of 2025-2026, he is recognized for his high football intelligence and reliability as a "chameleon" in the Ravens' offense.
    Strengths:
    • Catch Radius & Size: Elite 6'6" frame.
    • Football IQ: Highly intelligent, understands offensive and defensive schemes well.
    • Reliability: Dependable in red-zone and contested situations.
    Areas for Improvement:
    • Strength: Needed to improve lower-body strength for consistent inline blocking.
    • Speed: Limited speed and quickness to create big plays after the catch.
The other move is I'd prefer to sign Tyler Allgeier (Again as other smart guys have suggested). His running style reminds me a bit of Mixon, but he has considerable less mileage on him and could shine in a role sharing time with Marks.

Allgeier Analysis from Google AI: Tyler Allgeier is a highly efficient, physical running back for the Atlanta Falcons entering free agency (2026) as a top-tier backup/complementary back. Known for elite vision and running with high force, he acts as a "bulldozer" with 77% of his 2024 yards coming after contact. While splitting time with Bijan Robinson, he has remained a reliable, high-value, touchdown-dependent fantasy asset.

    Key Analysis & Performance Metrics
    • Running Style & Talent: Regarded as a "ram" or "bowling ball" runner, Allgeier is difficult to tackle, averaging high yards after contact. He has demonstrated exceptional, consistent rushing ability over his first four seasons, totaling 2,876 yards and 18 touchdowns.
    • 2024–2025 Performance: In 2024, ~77% of his 644 rushing yards came after contact, with 37 forced missed tackles. He is often used in a "change of pace" role alongside Bijan Robinson, making him a high-end handcuff or flex option in fantasy.
    • Efficiency: He is consistently efficient, with a 91.2 PFF rushing grade over the last three seasons, tying for 7th among RBs.
    • Outlook: As a 2026 unrestricted free agent, he is expected to be a sought-after, cost-effective option for teams needing a power back, with estimated annual value around $1.8 million.
    Strengths
    • Physicality & Power: High rate of yards after contact.
    • Vision & Instincts: High-level ability to set up blocks.
    • Durability: Relatively low usage despite being a key contributor.
    Weaknesses
    • Limited Passing Down Role: While improving, he is not utilized heavily as a receiving back.
    • Situational Fantasy Value: Dependent on scoring touchdowns to be a reliable weekly starter.
Allgeier has established himself as a legitimate starting-caliber running back in the NFL, despite officially being listed as the No. 2 option in Atlanta.

The other move I'd prefer we not do is trading up to 13, that seems like an expensive move for a LG. I'd prefer to either stick at 28 or trade back into early 2nd for more draft capital.

The only other caution I'd have is resigning Ingram. If the RUMINT of him wanting $15M are true, that's a lot for a one-year wonder. If he's reasonable, then yeah let's keep continuity with him and Howard on right side and work on LG, C, and TE.

They have to stop cheaping out on offense.

But also, this coaching staff still has to work on situational awareness and game/clock management. Meco still hasn't managed to get that completely fixed. The Texans need to obsess over the game details. Like, they had to know that the weather would be bad in NE, right?

My same opinion from 2 weeks ago still stands, on Texans chance to beat them. Seattle was just 9 points away from an undefeated season. They are a stronger team

Texans defense vs Seattle in Week 7 caused 4 turnovers. And the Texans didn't do anything with that advantage. The ONLY thing Texans could do different is actually put Sting on JSN instead of letting him run wild. Or hoping Kirk & the rookie receivers improve later in the year & show up. Cuz they werent gonna run the ball on Seattle.

Normal CJ pre-concussion that was actually running for yards had a hard time against them. They're just a better version of what the Texans do

But I woulda loved the puncher's chance against them

How much of a talent gap is there between the offense and defense ?

I agree, we probably would have lost but dam I would like to play it out to see how we do...............IMO our D would have been better, but the big question would be, would the offense have ANY creativity, or would it be the same vanilla offense we showed all year. The Pats were exactly who we were and I am sorry, that just isn't good enough with the skill set we currently have, the skill set between the O and the D is miles apart and teams seem to have the same methodology as we do, hell of a D with an OK O and a game manager at QB. Drake Maye sucked in that game because the D was so much better.............WE MUST IMPROVE this offense and CJ has to be more than a game manager

Thank the LORD the pitchers and catchers arrive this week to distract from this BS...............but much like the Texans, the Astros don't think we need to improve that much and are to dam cheap, "yea" were middle of the pack compared to the Dodgers.......come on 2nd place, lets get that participation trophy....................man I am so bitter
