Remember when the FBI and DHS were still independent agencies? Under both the first Trump and Biden administrations, they said white supremacist violence was our biggest domestic terrorism threat. Not some fringe concern, but rated at the same level as ISIS. The largest chunk of domestic terrorism cases. The most persistent threat we face. This wasn't partisan. It came from independent law enforcement across two different administrations. Worth remembering now that those agencies are no longer independent.

The FBI and DHS under BOTH administrations (Trump1 and Biden) said that white supremacist violence has been the most persistent and lethal category of domestic terrorism. That doesn't mean other forms don't exist, including ISIS-inspired. The important thing is not letting short-term trends override the long-term data or risk assessment.
