Spurs were able to surround Wemby with drivers because Wemby likes to work on the perimeter. Harper can’t shoot either.

 

Castle is surrounded by something we don't have SHOOTERS. Even Wemby can shoot 3s.

If Amen was surrounded by the same roster, think how good he would be.

Im drawn to the conclusion that Reed is and will be just a role player. A 8 - 9 on a championship roster.

I like Reed but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he’ll never have a statline like Castle just produced.

fair. But Amen doesn’t have a dribble pullup. Amen doesn’t have the same body control and shiftiness on his layups to create contact. And Castle is shooting 3’s better. He’s already ahead of Amen offensively. Defensively Amen may be better but Castle isn’t far behind.

 

People saying castle is better than amen is like when people say sengun is better than jokic. You can always have any opinion you want though so it’s perfectly valid.

 

Amen is going through you. He’s creating the contact. Castle gets to gamble on D because he’s got a 7’6” alien back there to clean up when he gets burned. Amen is probably a top 2 man defender in the league. Castle is a better shooter but they’re both awful.

 

Maybe. Hopefully. But not getting playing time isn’t an explanation for his uneven and poor play as of late. He wasn’t injured or out his entire rookie year. He didn’t play due to deficiencies but still got opportunities to play which he didn’t perform well. He has improved this year with shooting and defense but has been inconsistent and mistake prone. And compared to castle who in my opinion is better than Amen, he’s got a lot of work to do and unlikely he will be the type of player Castle or even Amen is.

 

i hope you understand how important a dribble pullup is for a player. That means defenders have to worry about you driving or pulling up for a jumper. You can rock them to sleep or threaten to drive with the dribble and pop up for a shot or make lure them into thinking you’re pulling up then exploding to the rim. This isn’t an easy move and takes years to master. Amen has zero pullup game. That’s why when a tough defender comes out and pressures him, he has no where to go and forced to do a dribble handoff. He only has one way to go which is north south to the rim. This is Amen’s limitations and why he hurts the Rockets offense

 

Not disagreeing about the lack of a J. He may never have a pull-up. But Castle is only marginally better. As a defender I’m totally taking my chances with Castle killing me from range. The odds aren’t great.

No he wouldn’t play as well since he wouldn’t have driving lanes. Same issues we have seen JG and Amen go through with 4 defenders lined up around the paint.

 

As of the last month castle is definitely the better player, but you guys are drinking some weird koolaid I've watched a lot of spurs games recently and the guy is a liability. He was almost unanimously seen as a poor man's WB on the spur's subreddit and baseline bums prior to the last 2 weeks

theres a difference between shooting bad over the period of a month due to a slump and being terrible mechanically because you've never been a good shooter. Comparing Reed's shooting ability to Castle's is pretty badschit insane bro

as others have said, when you have shooters all around you and wemby you will feast uin the paint, in the post season you'll see this exposed. Amen would be averaging 25+ in the same situation.

 

I agree Castle is marginally better right now. But he already has the tools to be great. Amen has an uphill climb. I think Amen would have some type of dribble pullup game by year 5. I wouldn’t be surprised if Castle explodes by year 4.

 

If we’re talking ceiling then it’s Amen by a mile. Even without a great jumper, but I do think his IQ, work ethic, and overall knowledge of the game are off the charts.
