Jabari has quietly been playing some good games lately while the rest of the team was in a funk. In the past 5 games:

    18.0 points
    1.6 blocks
    48% 3p shooting
    50.8% FG%

    And solid defense.

tbf its not really been his shooting thats been the biggest issues

it was always his decision making, turnovers, stone hands, and when he takes the bad shots he does

but he has made me eat crow lately. There has been less dribbling and more catching and shooting

:D so true. I laughed today he was like 9-11 on free throws. And I was thinking oh right on, he’s been shooting much better lately. Next post I see is someone saying something to the effect “oh bum Jabari mental issues on free throw line.” LOL.

Dude could make 10 shots in a row and the first miss after that you’d have some idiot saying “ahh he can’t shoot what a bust trade him for a bag of chips” it’s quite amusing lol

Jabari like many young players is confidence driven. If he makes a couple of shots or makes a good aggressive play on defense it snowballs into a good game if the opposite occurs he starts to hesitate and has a tough time overcoming it. He is a very talented player. I wish he would commit to putting on muscular weight. I think he could have a really great future as a stretch center.

he’s doing good! If he can give 14-16 a night or get double digit rebounding. I’m cool with that.

He needed it after the rough stretch he had. Glad to see him bounce back though (I figured he would honestly, was just a slump)

It's almost like we have a young, developing core that is prone to bouts of inconsistency.

Jabari is still TBD... but a 6'11" potential 3&D player on 5 year ~$24mil/yr contract..... Hopefully this is the season he can start average +38% from 3.

Y'all can f*ck off until his 3PT% hits 38% on his shots that are LITERALLY 80% open. Doesn't even require an excellent shooter to achieve that.

That's his only role and as I told you 5 games ago it will take more than 5 good games to fix. As you can see even after this hot streak he's still a putrid 35.7% as one of our designated spacers.

He has a ****-ton of work to do to get there. He's capable but he has never delivered it so it's time to prove it. Only a good season average will do.

Btw he doesn't need a bunch of buttkissers to appreciate his defense and hard work. Everyone knows the positives, everyone appreciates that stuff. You're not the only one seeing it. Jabari himself doesn't believe what you believe - that this is good enough. You've only made yourselves comfortable by telling yourself it's fine for him to be a mediocre shooter and good defender. However everyone knows that's a replacement level player that will be traded quickly if he doesn't get better.

Keep going Jabari, this is not the time for a pat on the back we're only a quarter of the way there.

I don't know if I'd call 35.7% "putrid" given that he's #6 among all NBA power forwards in three point attempts per game, and the average NBA power forward shoots 35.5% from three. It's certainly not great, especially given the context where as you said he's open on most of his shots, and I'd like to see him do better. But I don't really get the narrative that it's horrible and utterly unacceptable.

I’d still bench him right now to be our back up big because Stone decided to be scared.

    That's why I specified openness.

For 80% open or wide open, it's horrible. An average shooter should be well above league average in that scenario. The difference between 35.7% and 38% is not small, especially in the context of the psychology of spacing.

Teams are willing to test their luck leaving him open. That makes him completely useless to us on offense because he's either making them without adding any spacing or he's not making them without adding any spacing.

I genuinely hate to say it after having his back all these years: it's just not acceptable for what we should have in that role.

I honestly don't think he'll make it past the summer if he doesn't do it (38%) and we don't win the title.

He has a strong point that literally all of Jabari’s 3s are open.

I don’t think JSJ is good enough shooting to be starting with 2 non shooters on a contender currently. I think he’s a good role player..just not good enough to be the 5th guy on a team without a Top 10 player. Not sure team has a better option though.

They don’t have a better option. Tari and he complement each other.
