What do you think the odds are that he actually hits the trade market? He would address a lot of our problems.

One problem I foresee would be LA wanting Amen from us in return. Our defense would take a massive hit starting Reaves, Durant, and Sengun.

Maybe a three team deal to get LA a different player?

I don't think he would "hit the trade market" so to speak. It would have to be a S&T.

Luka and Reaves are both incredible but are an untenable combination together. Totally duplicative and marginal defensively, when the Lakers have limited resources and zero other long term starters/high rotation players in place. S&T'ing Reaves seems like their only path to actual contention IMO.

I'd imagine some kind of three-way S&T. Reaves to HOU, Sengun and/or other assets elsewhere to get whoever the Lakers want (maybe Giannis). HOU has the young assets + high value picks and are a destination where Reaves would want to sign.

Amen isn't going anywhere under this FO and coach. Sengun is the obvious outgoing this summer.

He's good cuz of the whistle. Dude gets 22 free throws in a game. If Jalen got those calls he'd be good too.

The question isn’t how much money can we throw at Reaves (or player X), it’s should be how quickly can we improve our scouting, coaching, and development so that the next time a Reaves goes undrafted or Brunson or Ajay Mitchell drop to the 2nd round or Jalen Williams drops to the mid first round or Hali is on the block we’re all over it.

And those will stop soon as he puts on a Rockets uniform unless he signs a Nike deal

You could say some of that might be the refs, but drawing fouls is a skill, and eye test says Reaves, like Harden always was, is pretty damn good at it.

Maybe he'd get a less-friendly whistle and lose a little of his scoring punch as a Rocket, but I'll bet he'd still draw a lot of fouls.

How often does a team get a Reaves/ Brunson/ Joker/ Ajay in the 2nd round?

Are there teams doing it every 5 years?
If not, how often should we expect to strike?

    >stats:
15 2nd rounders have played an all-star game the last 25 years.
10 have made an all-nba team.
I believe the Warriors are the only team tp have made 2 of those "10 all-nba selection" 2nd round picks [Arenas and Green]

So at best, 2 in 25 years?

One might argue that, with Parsons, Hartenstein and Harrell, we have made some very good picks. However that may also emphasise your point as those picks could be seen as 'old regime'. Get up to speed Stone!

The FVV no trade clause ends with this league year. In the offseason, he can be traded like anyone else.

That just made my day. I did not know that. Wonder if they would do FVV + Capella + 2nds for Murray

Man, I just don't know about that. (agree with the rest of the post).

They have to start questioning his ceiling as year three plays out and with how the Spurs effectively broke the Rockets offense by putting a center on Amen and he had no answer - and they know better than anyone else what he looks like shooting the ball in practice.
They know better than anyone he can't run the offense from the PG spot.

Maybe they cash him in instead of Sengun?

They'd also be hard capped as a result of the S&T ....

Have to wonder what a deal with Amen going out looks like?

The problem is that you can't hide Sengun's defense/lack of shooting on a roster alongside KD + any all-star level player we could realistically get by trading Amen away.

Giannis? No way he can play alongside Sengun, their offensive strengths are redundant and they'd destroy spacing for each other.

Reaves? Harden? Mitchell? Markkanen? Our starting defense would go from strength to garbage-tier.

At least with Amen (he doesn't fit with Giannis either btw) you only have to hide the lack of shooting, and you just do that by putting a lot of other shooters on the floor.

Some of y'all are massively overreacting to the "put the center on him" thing. That only worked so well because we had so little other shooting on the floor. A team that can hit threes can punish that.

But that’s why I don’t want him. In order for us to win a championship we have to get guys who can score without relying on the whistle. Cuz we know once playoff starts we are getting shafted.

Im confused, can we trade FVV once he picks up his option? Even if not would he accept a trade if agreed he would be bought out? NOP gets his expiring. 4 2nds might be one to many but idk

Really depends how Murray looks once back but I’d definitely want the Jerome deal done. Both Jerome and Reed could play starter minutes to help take load off Murray

    Murray / Jerome
    Amen / Reed
    KD / Tari
    Jabari /
    Sengun / Adams
